The National Weather Service updated its snow forecast this afternoon to a storm warning and predicted the amount of snow will be greater than reported earlier in the day.
The Storm Warning for Bradford County will be in effect from 7 p.m. tonight to 1 a.m. Thursday. But significant snow is now not expected until after 9 p.m., according to the weather service.
The prediction for most of Bradford County is 100 percent for snow of between 1 and 3 inches after 9 p.m. and for between 4 and 8 inches additional daytime snow on Wednesday for a total by Wednesday evening of 5 to 11 inches. The exceptions are in the Canton area in the southwest portion of the county where slightly less snow is forecast and the Wyalusing area where slightly more snow is forecast.
In northern Sullivan County, the snowfall is expected to be 6-12 inches by Wednesday afternoon.
Winds throughout the region are predicted to be 15-25 mph during the day Wednesday with temperatures mainly in the 20s, the weather service said.
A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow are expected and travel is advised only for emergencies.
