TROY - Head, Heart, Hands, Health - was being celebrated Friday at the 135th Troy Fair.
It was 4H day, a chance to celebrate 4H and have fun after most of the shows and competitions were completed earlier in the week, Bradford County 4H Educator Tia Steinfelt said.
4H teens organized the event, she said, which included events throughout the day Friday, including a fair-wide scavenger hunt, a hay bale throwing contest, three-legged race, pie-eating contest and even bowling -- with manure (using shovels, of course).

Because the community swimming pools in Canton/Troy have been closed all or most of the season, the Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) of Canton decided to provide "a bright spot" for the children-youth-adults in the areas.
The Knoebel's trip is under the leadership of Bonnie Browning (minister) assisted by David Morris (retired minister) and Kristin Seeley (picnic coordinator). The Canton and Troy Community Trip to Knoebel's Amusement Park and Swimming Pool, Elysburg, has been planned for Tuesday, Aug. 3.

Several members of the Sayre Rotary Club recently visited Reid Barton at his new home in Johnson City, N.Y. Reid has been a member of the club for over 50 years, but is no longer able to attend the regular weekly meetings. To honor his service to the Sayre Rotary club over the years, and to recognize his continued interest in Rotary, he was presented with an honorary membership. Reid mentioned that he always considered the weekly Rotary meetings as a respite from his work day.

Road sections anticipated to be open late Friday night
It is anticipated that two closed sections of road in Bradford and Wyoming counties will be re-opened to traffic late Friday night.
A press release from PennDOT indicated that road repairs continue along Spring Hill Road in Tuscarora Township, Bradford County, and Second Street in Laceyville, Wyoming County.
PennDOT reported Thursday that road sections would be closed following a mineral oil spill for about a mile along the center lane of traffic. The mineral oil was being transported on a truck, and was intended for a local gas well owned by Chesapeake Energy. Mineral oil is used as part of the well drilling process.
