Nordmont Road bridge beams to be set

Nestlerode Contracting Co. is planning to set beams for the new bridge on Route 2002 (Nordmont Road) in Davidson Township on Sept. 13.

This bridge is located over Muncy Creek between Sonestown and Nordmont in Sullivan County.

Traffic will encounter delays while the beams are lifted and set into place. Five beams, each weighing 29 tons, will be set on Thursday. Barring any unforeseen issues, the beam setting will be completed in one day.

The previous structure was severely damaged during Tropical Storm Lee flooding last September. A temporary bridge and roadway approaches were constructed and are currently being used by traffic.

Work is being done in two phases:

In phase 1, the new bridge is being built, while traffic is maintained on the existing temporary bridge and roadway approaches.

In phase 2, the temporary bridge and approaches will be removed and the permanent roadway approaches, drainage improvement, erosion protection and new guiderail will be constructed. During this phase, traffic will be detoured along Main Street (T-300), Route 220 and Nordmont Road (SR 2003).

Lake Road drainage improvement scheduled in Bradford County

A PennDOT maintenance crew in Bradford County will replace a large cross pipe to improve drainage along Route 1029 (Lake Road) in Rome Township on Sept. 11 and 12. The work will take place each day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The old pipe being replaced with a new one is located just south of the intersection with Route 1022 (Ghent Hill Road).

Traffic will be directed to use a red-arrow detour following Route 1022 (Ghent Hill Road) and Route 1020 (Shores Road) while the work is under way.
