Monroeton Public Library becomes Monroe Borough's permanent polling place

The Monroeton Public Library is now the permanent polling place for the residents of Monroe Borough, Bradford County Elections Director Renee Smithkors said.

The library had been used as a temporary polling place in the April 2012 primary, due to a mold problem that had developed last year at Monroe Hose Company's social hall, which had been the borough's polling place in the past.

The poll workers said they liked the temporary location, so, starting with the Nov. 6, 2012 election, the Monroeton Public Library will be the permanent polling place for Monroe Borough, Smithkors said.

The library is located on Dalpiaz Drive in Monroe Borough.

Towanda Township passes ordinances regulating RVs

The Towanda Township supervisors recently passed two ordinances related to recreational vehicles (RVs), which allow people to live in RVs, township Supervisor Charlotte Sullivan said.

"It's because of the gas people," she said, adding that the supervisors want them to be able to live in RVs in the township. Until the ordinances were passed, there was nothing on the books in the township that allowed them to live in RVs.

The ordinances contain regulations for the RVs, such as where they can be located if someone is living in one, she said.

In addition, the supervisors passed a third ordinance which updates the regulations on mobile homes and mobile home parks, she said.

The ordinances will be posted on the township's website, she said.
