Emergency slide repair and roadway realignment in Sullivan County to halt for winter
A $1,419,248 flood repair project along a section of Route 2003 (Nordmont Road) in Laporte Township, Sullivan County went on hiatus on Friday.
The work, which includes realignment of the roadway, repairs to the existing embankment following a slide, rock-lined ditch construction, drainage improvements, tree plantings, installation of a log deflector, placement of large rocks for erosion protection and guiderail installation, will be halted for the winter on Friday. Work will resume in April.
The project is 2.2 miles east of the intersection with Route 220, and just north of Nordmont.
The project is expected to be completed by late November 2013.
Once completed, the roadway and the embankment should be stable and more resistant to erosion and slope failure, thus will enhance safety for the traveling public.
