The Tioga County Sheriff's Office said Sunday that they are investigating an armed robbery of the Kentucky Fried Chicken/A&W on Fifth Avenue (Route 17C) in Owego, N.Y.

The robbery occurred between 8:45 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday, the sheriff's office said.

The suspect in the robbery was described as a black male, in his late 20s or early 30s, 5'8" to 5'10" tall with a thin build, wearing a white hooded shirt with a design on it and jeans, possibly also with a design on them, the sheriff's office said in a press release.

The suspect displayed a black-colored handgun and left the business on foot, and is believed to have gotten into a vehicle at an adjoining business, according to the sheriff's office.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the sheriff's office at (607) 687-1010.
