Approximately 50 tickets are left for the Grammy-award winning Texas swing band "Asleep at the Wheel"'s upcoming concert in Towanda, according to the Bradford County Regional Arts Council. The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4 at the Keystone Theatre in Towanda.

Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox said the cooler temperatures make nice sleeping weather. He also noted that some roof work was being done at his office.

 

People were busy peeling peaches at the Peach Festival in Troy last week.

Nashville recording artist Kurtis Parks, who wrote "Forever Changed," a song that was played nationally and which pays tribute to the families of the victims of the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre, will be performing in Towanda next month. Parks had been a student at Virginia Tech. He has relatives in the area, including an aunt in the Mercur Hill area, said Karen Parkhurst, co-owner of the Weigh Station Cafe in Towanda, where Parks will be performing on Friday, Oct. 23, probably from 6 to 9 p.m.

A Towanda resident said with relief that the weather is starting to get cooler and the grass won't require as much mowing soon.
