Athens groups collect toys for Salvation Army

The Athens Area Education Support Professionals and the Athens Area Education Association joined forces again this year to collect toys for the Sayre Salvation Army.

Over four weeks, boxes were placed in each district building for members to make contributions. Due to the overwhelming generosity of many members, some of the buildings required more than one box. All of the toys were gathered together and presented during the Christmas Is For Kids radio broadcast on Dec. 19.

In addition to the Salvation Army, donations of wrapping paper and tape were collected for Moms and Dads Santa's Helpers. Donations to both groups far surpassed last year's.

By joining together, both groups hope to make Christmas time a little brighter for many of the area youth.
