Athens Township police searching for Waverly pair Bowman, Shaffer involved in Feb. incident
The Athens Township Police Department seeks the public's help in locating two individuals wanted in a February incident.
Joshua E. Bowman, 32, and Heather L. Shaffer, 27, both formerly of the Waverly area, are wanted in connection with an incident that occurred Feb. 17 on Route 220, according to a release from the department.
Police said Bowman, the operator of a motor vehicle, and Shaffer, a passenger, both provided false information regarding their identities to police during the incident.
Warrants have been issued for both individuals, police said. Police have charged Shaffer with giving false identification to a law enforcement officer, a third-degree misdemeanor, according to information filed in district court.
Police filed several charges against Bowman, including providing unsworn falsification to authorities in the form of a forged or altered document, giving a false report by falsely incriminating another person, and providing false identification to a law enforcement officer, all misdemeanors, according to court information.
Police also cited Bowman for driving without a license, driving an unregistered vehicle and misuse of registration plates, all summary offenses, according to court filings.
Bowman is also wanted in New York State for violating the terms of his probation, police said.
Anyone with information in reference to the location of either Shaffer or Bowman is asked to contact township police at (570) 888-2200. All information will be kept private and callers can remain anonymous if they wish to do so, police said.
