The Athens Township supervisors voted to adopt the 2010 budget for the township, which contains no tax increase, at a recent meeting.

The budget stands at $2,691,612; down from $2,775,226 a year ago, according to budget documents. Of that amount, around $1,810,000 will be raised from taxes. The tax rate remains unchanged from 2009 at 10 mils, Supervisor Robin Smith said.

Smith said the supervisors were happy to be able to hold the line on taxes this year, and noted that the township cut its projected spending from last year. The township will receive less money from the state in liquid fuels funds, she said, due to a decrease in fuel tax revenue caused by a drop in demand for fuel products.

A copy of the budget is available for public review at the Athens Township building.
