Katherine Porter of Sayre won Best of Show in the Youth and 4-H "Fashions With A Flair" fashion show at the Pennsylvania Farm Show on Saturday, Jan. 5. Katherine is the daughter of Dr. Burdett and Cynthia Porter.

"Katherine is so honored to receive this award," stated her mom Cynthia Porter. "She worked really hard designing this year's ensemble."

Porter designed an outfit that was inspired by Tommy Hilfiger's Ready to Wear 2012 fall collection. The outfit featured a red lined beret, made of 100-percent virgin wool, which complements the military style jacket. A stand-up collar, top stitched epaulettes and sleeve tabs, detail the red jacket; silver vintage buttons accent the piece. Porter established a Hong Kong finish to complete the jacket hem.

The jacket opened to a navy chiffon dress bodice that featured shattered white polka dots. The design pairs well with the navy dress skit, made of 100-percent superfine wool gabardine. The dress also featured an invisible zipper, front and back pleats, and hand sewn hems.

Each entry was judged on overall appearance and accessories, modeling presentations, design, style and color, construction and fit, and level of difficulty. The Pennsylvania Farm Show is located in Harrisburg, and concludes on Saturday, Jan. 12.

Katherine participates in the Navigators 4-H club located in Sayre under the leadership of Linda Elsbree. Any youth between the ages of 8-18 interested in participating in 4-H, please contact the Bradford County Extension Office at 265-2896 or via email bradfordext@psu.edu.
