The Bradford County Bar Association on Wednesday honored local attorneys Robert Murphy and John Griffin for their pro bono work and their contributions to the community.

Murphy and Griffin were the recipients Wednesday of an annual award given by the Bar Association in memory of David Keeffe. The award is given to a member of the Bar Association who provides outstanding community service or pro bono work, similar to the work that Keeffe performed in the community, according to a press release from the Bradford County Bar Association.

Keeffe was president of the Bradford County Bar Association at the time that he and his wife, Carol, were shot and killed in the garage of their Athens Township home in November 2006.

David Keeffe was recognized by federal court judges for his pro bono work as well as recognized by many community organizations, such as UNICO and Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers for his work representing charities, the press release said.

The award to Murphy and Griffin acknowledges their contributions to the community, to the Bar Association, and their pro bono work, the press release said.

The award provides further recognition of the fact that Griffin and Murphy have provided excellent legal representation to the Bradford County community.
