Burlington parade plans complete
Plans have been completed for the 67th annual Burlington-West Burlington Halloween parade to be held Thursday, Oct. 24.
This year's parade will take place in West Burlington and the parade marshals will be the three township supervisors of West Burlington Township: Chuck Woodward, Elgene Ward and Ralph Jennings. They look forward to leading one of the finest Halloween parades ever.
All floats, marching units and individuals should be present for tagging and line-up starting at 7 p.m. It is not necessary to register prior to the parade. Starting time for the parade is 7:30 p.m.
The parade will be led by an honor guard from Boy Scout Troup 4049 of Troy.
Members of the Troy High School and Canton High School bands will set the pace for the parade and the announcer of the parade will be Dale Harper. Following the parade, Dale will conduct a lively auction of baked goods for the benefit of the parade fund.
Many floats, marching units, antique cars, horses, emergency equipment and a host of individuals will compete for more than 50 cash prizes.
Among the dignitaries planning to be in the parade will be Troy Fair Queen, Maria Demas, and also members of the Dairy Princess Court. Public office holders and any candidates for election will also be welcome.
A food concession will be in operation and the traditional free cider and doughnuts will be available for everyone. There will be a bake sale throughout the evening, for the benefit of the parade fund. Anyone wishing to contribute to the parade fund may forward their contribution to Mrs. JaNell Young at P.O. Box 211, Burlington, PA 18814.
While the judges are arriving at their decisions, the band will be invited to provide the crowd with additional music. Everyone, young and old, is always welcome at the parade of the Burlingtons, so come to West Burlington Thursday, Oct. 24, and enjoy the evening with your neighbors.
