Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative recently received recognition in the 2013 "Spotlight on Excellence" national awards program for communications excellence sponsored by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).

Claverack received an Award of Merit in the Best Event category for its efforts to commemorate and celebrate the cooperative's 75th anniversary in 2012.

The award was presented to Claverack's director of member services, Brian Zeidner, and member services representative Karen Evangelisti during an awards luncheon at

NRECA's Connect '13 Conference in Orlando, Fla., May 15. Winning entries were displayed during the event.

"We are honored and pleased to have been selected for a Spotlight on Excellence award," said Claverack President and CEO Bobbi Kilmer. "It's great to be recognized on the national level for our efforts to commemorate Claverack's proud history of bringing power to rural northeastern Pennsylvania. I wish to thank our employees for going the extra mile to ensure that our 75th anniversary celebration was memorable and enjoyable for our members."

The annual Spotlight awards competition recognizes the top-rated communication and marketing efforts by electric cooperatives from across the nation. Participants in the awards program competed with electric cooperatives of similar sizes in 19 categories.

Electric cooperative communicators, member service, and marketing professionals submitted more than 740 entries to the Spotlight on Excellence program, now in its 25th year. Faculty members from the University of Missouri, University of South Carolina and Ohio University judged the entries.

Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative, a member-owned, non-profit utility with headquarters in Wysox, provides electricity to more than 18,000 consumer-members in Bradford, Susquehanna, Wyoming, Tioga, Lycoming, Sullivan, Lackawanna and Luzerne counties.
