Lockheed Martin's Owego employees donate $723,966 to local charities
Each year, Lockheed Martin's employees in Owego support non-profit organizations throughout Tioga County during the company's community giving campaign. Throughout October, employees pledged $723,966 of their own money to local charitable organizations.
More than 500 organizations will benefit from the funds raised by Lockheed Martin employees during the three-week workplace giving campaign. The most popular charities chosen by employees ranged from national organizations like American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society to local charities like the Tioga County Boys and Girls Club and nearby United Way chapters.
"We are one of the largest employers in our community, so providing a way for our employees to give back to their own communities is important," said Lee Spadine, community giving campaign manager for Lockheed Martin Owego. "Their financial contributions impress me year after year and they make sure non-profit organizations right here in our backyard can continue to grow and thrive."
This year's campaign recognized the company's centennial anniversary and legacy of giving back to those in need. Including this year's totals, employees in Owego have given more than $4 million to charitable organizations through its annual campaign since 2008.
