National Record Store Day at Broad Street Records

This Saturday, Broad Street Records on Broad Street in Waverly will join hundreds of other independently owned record stores across the United States to celebrate "National Record Store Day."

The event was founded in 2007 as a "celebration of the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally," according to the National Record Store Day Web site.

The event features special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products made exclusively for the day, the Web site states.

At Broad Street Records, owner Pat Ayres said Saturday will feature sales on everything in the store, live music, refreshments and gifts throughout the day. Scheduled to perform are Vinegar Williams from 1-1:45 p.m., The King and the Duck from 2-2:45 p.m. and Roger and Ryland Bacorn from 3-4 p.m.
