Traditions reopens at Dushore Hotel
Review Photo / Amanda Renko Traditions, a restaurant and bar, recently reopened at the Dushore Hotel on Main Street.
A bar and restaurant located in one of Dushore's most historic buildings recently reopened after being closed for over two years.
Dawn Farrell said regular customers are flocking back to Traditions, located inside the Dushore Hotel, ever since the restaurant opened in November. "They're very happy that we're back open," she said.
The Farrells initially got into the restaurant business after relocating to the Dushore area in 2000. Originally from Philadelphia, they noticed there was no place nearby to enjoy some of the foods their homeland is most famous for.
"We're famous for our cheesesteaks and hoagies because we're from Philly," Farrell said.
Other popular specials from the restaurant's full menu include a Friday fish fry and a Saturday night prime rib. Traditions also offers a free sundae with dinner every Sunday. Thursday's wing night also does well, Farrell said, and the restaurant offers a variety of wing sauces.
The dining area's décor channels the spirit of the Dushore Hotel, which was built in 1854. "It's the oldest building in Dushore," Farrell said.
The quaint, cozy area features details like a working fireplace, antique artwork and a chandelier made from a wagon wheel.
"It has a lot of little quirks to it," Farrell said of the dining room.
The restaurant also has a bar area with a pool table and plenty of seating; a take-out menu is also available.
Traditions is open from 3 to 10 p.m. Thursday through Monday and closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. For more information, call the restaurant at (570) 928-9000.
