Wyalusing Hotel earns Leed certification
WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Wyalusing Hotel annex, the recent addition to the existing historic Wyalusing Hotel, recently received Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) program. Only those buildings that have adhered to the LEED system of nationally accepted standards for environmentally sustainable building design, construction, and operation receive this distinction.
Weston Solutions Inc. (WESTON®), a leading environmental, redevelopment, and construction firm, designed and built the annex to be both cost effective and efficient. The Annex-which is the first LEED building in Bradford County, PA-includes the following sustainability features: a white roof; energy-efficient heating/cooling systems and ENERGY STAR appliances; stormwater quantity controls and water efficient landscaping; water-efficient bath fixtures; the use of recycled content in building materials; low-emitting paints, floorings, and adhesives; and occupant comfort features such as room daylighting, views of the town, individualized temperature controls, and operable windows.
According to WESTON President and CEO Patrick G. McCann, "This redevelopment project provides an impressive example of stakeholder alignment. In a true partnership, we created a win-win solution-one that not only meets the needs of a community, but does so in a sustainable fashion."
To address growing demands for housing in the shale gas region, WESTON developed and built the 24 modular hotel room annex that is managed, operated, and maintained by The Wyalusing Hotel.
