Canton area man wins grand prize in raffle

CANTON - Robert Shedden has some extra spending money this Christmas thanks to the 2009 Canton Chamber Christmas Raffle.
Shedden, of RD2 Canton, was the grand prize winner of $425 in the raffle.
"It felt great," he said of winning. "It's always great when your name is pulled."
He said his wife bought the ticket in his name. He never expected to win.
Jodi Wesneski, president of the chamber, said the chamber sold 1,250 tickets.
Two National Honor Society students at Canton High School, Shannon Abercrombie and Brittany Colton, pulled the raffle tickets.
Other winners included: Jeff Burgess, who won the first place prize of a Wii; Doug Seeley, second place prize of a $150 gift certificate from Lepley, Engelman, and Yaw toward a simple will, Power of Attorney, or living will; Darlene Castle, third place prize of a $90 gift certificate from Nikki Rook, O.D., Endless Mountains Eye Care, for an eye exam; Janelle Desborough, fourth place prize of a $75 Christmas Trio with delivery from Stull's Flowers; and Marie Layng, fifth place prize of a $50 savings bond from First Citizens National Bank.
In addition to the grand prize winner, there were a total of 38 winners in the raffle.
