Canton commends youth on project
CANTON - Christian Thoren was praised this week by borough council for his work on a project in the borough.
Thoren attended the council meeting this week and provided details on all the work he had done.
Speaking during the public comment period, Thoren noted how he had fixed up the maintenance building by the War Memorial Pool.
"It looks a lot better now," he commented.
Thoren provided the borough a check for approximately $35, which was the difference between the amount he fund-raised and the cost of materials. He thanked the borough for letting him use the building for his Eagle Scout project.
He provided his thanks to those in the borough who helped him.
Several council members thanked him for his work.
Council member Darryl Jannone told Thoren that his project "speaks volumes" to his character and was a job well done.
Later, Jannone said it was a "great project completed by a stellar young American."
