CANTON - The Canton Wine and Cheese Festival is now online.

During a meeting of the Canton Area Chamber of Commerce Thursday, Amy Seeley, who is the chamber treasurer and presided over the meeting, announced that the festival now has a Web site.

It can be found at www.cantonwineandcheese.com, and is currently under construction, according to the Web site.

It's not the only place you can find the festival online.

On Facebook, the festival has a page showing 92 people who like the page. In addition, it has photos of the event.

This year, festival planners said the first-ever Canton Wine and Cheese Festival had a good turnout at the Manley-Bohlayer Heritage Farm in East Canton.

Marcie Shinn, president of Rekindle the Spirit, said a nice sized-crowd came out for the event, which featured several wineries as well as food and craft vendors and entertainment.

The idea for a festival featuring wine and cheese sprung off of the annual Apple 'n Cheese Festival, Shinn said.

"The Apple and Cheese Festival is held every fall, and there are two wineries that come to that," Shinn explained. "We always decided not to turn it into a wine festival though. We just have had many inquiries throughout the years about having another festival devoted to wine and cheese."

Shinn said Rekindle the Spirit and the Canton Chamber of Commerce got together and came up with the idea of the two collaborating on the wine and cheese event.
