Casey tours Tioga County wind project
U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) on Wednesday toured AES Armenia Mountain Wind LLC, a wind project located in Tioga and Bradford counties.
AES Armenia Mountain Wind LLC is one of the largest wind projects in Pennsylvania. Senator Casey was joined by Tioga County Commissioners as well as officials from AES and the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) on the tour.
"Pennsylvania is a manufacturing hub that is growing its wind capacity and it is wonderful to see it firsthand today," said Senator Casey. "We must consider a national energy standard that would lower pollution and increase renewable energy usage. Wind power is an important part of that formula."
AES Armenia Mountain Wind LLC received $69,460,892 in federal funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) earlier this year. The funding, administered by the U.S. Department of Treasury, provides a payment in lieu of tax credit for project development and aims to create and retain jobs as well as expand the use of clean, renewable energy.
Armenia Mountain is the second largest wind farm in Pennsylvania by installed capacity and largest by number of wind turbines.
