Management changes at Chesapeake Energy, based in Oklahoma City, Okla., have reportedly affected Chesapeake staff here in Bradford County.

Unnamed sources close to the situation have confirmed with The Review that the entire Corporate Communications Media Relations team has been dismissed, including staff from the Athens Field Office.

Repeated efforts to contact Chesapeake, both locally and in Oklahoma City, have been unsuccessful.

It's apparently part of a management staff shakeup that began last week with Doug Lawler, the new Chesapeake CEO, letting four senior executives go, according to a report published in the Wall Street Journal. The report continued that Lawler said in an email to Chesapeake staff that the "restructuring will position Chesapeake to be more competitive and focused." And that Lawler is forging a new strategy for the energy giant.
