Towanda Fire Station paid for using state tax on insurance companies
A story in the Friday edition of The Daily Review should have stated that Towanda Borough, which in 2004 bought the building that houses the Towanda Fire Station, later sold the building to its current owner, which is the Towanda Firemen's Relief Association. The Relief Association re-paid the borough for the cost of the building using money it had received from a state tax on out-of-state insurance companies that sell fire insurance in Pennsylvania. The Relief Association is an arm of the Towanda Fire Department.
