Clarification: Nixle public alert system can also send voice messages to residents
Nixle public alert system can also send voice messages to residents
Following a story that was published on May 2 in The Daily Review, Eric Liu, who is the CEO of Nixle LLC, contacted the newspaper to clarify what the Nixle public alert system can do. While Bradford County currently uses a free service provided by Nixle that sends emails and text messages to residents, the county could pay Nixle to provide an upgraded, expanded service that would also send recorded voice messages to residents' telephones, Liu said. The voice messages can be geographically targeted to, for example, a specific municipality or a specific school district. Text messages provided through the Nixle system can also be geographically targeted to a specific area, even with the free system that the county now has in place, Liu said.
