TOWANDA - A break in a fiber optic cable line resulted in an outage in Comcast's services Friday night and Saturday that affected the company's cable TV, Internet and telephone customers in the Towanda area, a spokesman for the company said.

The fiber optic line, which is owned by Level 3 Communications, was leased by Comcast, said Comcast spokesman Bob Grove.

Therefore, it was Level 3 Communications' responsibility to fix the line, although Comcast did whatever it could to help get the problem resolved, he said.

Only Comcast customers in the Towanda area were affected by the break, he said.

The outage began Friday night, and continued through much of Saturday, he said.

Level 3 has completed the repair of the fiber optic line, he said Saturday evening.

All of Comcast's services for all of its customers in the Towanda area were back up and running normally as of 6:30 p.m. Saturday, he said.
