Community forum on drug abuse in the Valley

The residents of The Valley are invited to a public forum on the epidemic of drug abuse in our community. The public forum will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26 in the Patterson Auditorium at Robert Packer Hospital. Registration and refreshments will be held from 8:30-9 a.m. at the same location.

Presentations will be made by a Guthrie physician, a Bradford County judge, the Bradford County coroner, and the Tioga County Probation and Coroner offices. Also representation from the Valley area school districts will present their concerns to the public.

After the presentation, there will be a time for the public to discuss their concerns as citizens.

The morning will end with a time to set goals for mediation and an invitation for concerned citizens to join with community leaders to help heal the hurt from drug abuse in our area. Representatives from the Valley Clergy Association and The Valley Hope (a local drug preventative and support group) will be in attendance at the forum. We invite those in the recovery community to join us and bring their wisdom and experience to our round table discussion. Together let us find help and healing in the New Year.

So we can have enough seating and refreshments, please call Pastor Anne Canfield at the Waverly United Methodist Church (607) 565-8650 to let us know of your intention to attend by Wednesday, Jan. 23.
