Coroner: death of man found in river is not suspicious
The death of James Justin Massey of Baytown, Texas, whose body was discovered floating in the Susquehanna River Tuesday in Towanda Township, is not considered suspicious, the Bradford County coroner said Wednesday night.
An autopsy was performed on Massey's body earlier on Wednesday.
"We are awaiting on final toxicology results" to determine the cause of Massey's death, Bradford County Coroner Tom Carman said in a press release that he issued Wednesday night.
"At this point the death (of Massey) is not being considered suspicious in nature," the press release said.
Investigators are waiting for the results of final toxicology studies before a determination of the cause and manner of Massey's death will be made, Carman said.
Massey, 47, leaves behind a wife and children.
Massey's body was discovered a few feet off the bank of an island in the river, 500 yards south of the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
