Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that the following persons were placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) Program on March 15 and 18, 2010, in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

Jack Johnson, 18, Towanda, charged with theft by unlawful taking in July 2009, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation under the supervision of the Bradford County Probation Department for a term of 12 months. While in the ARD Program, Johnson must perform 40 hours of community service and pay restitution in the amount of $2180.18. Trooper Robert McKee of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Johnson for the offense following investigation of a theft that occurred in Wysox Township.

Adam Chilson, 18, Towanda, charged with theft by unlawful taking in July 2009, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation under the supervision of the Bradford County Probation Department for a term of 12 months. While in the ARD Program, Chilson must perform 40 hours of community service. Trooper Robert McKee of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Chilson for the offense following investigation of a theft that occurred in Wysox Township.

Linda Dodge, 56, Monroeton, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in December 2009, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation under the supervision of the Bradford County Probation Department for a term of nine months. While in the ARD Program, Dodge must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel; he will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Chief Douglas Seeley of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested Dodge for the offense.

Tiffany Jenner, 25, Wyalusing, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in November 2009, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation under the supervision of the Bradford County Probation Department for a term of 12 months. While in the ARD Program, Jenner must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel; she will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days. Trooper David Sweeney of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Jenner for the offense following investigation of a motor vehicle crash that occurred in Wysox Borough.

Joseph Miksis, 45, Towanda, charged with simple assault by menacing in September 2009, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation under the supervision of the Bradford County Probation Department for a term of 12 months. While in the ARD Program, Miksis must perform 40 hours of community service. Trooper David Sweeney of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Miksis for the offense following investigation of a theft that occurred in Sheshequin Township.

Susan Sane, 51, Laceyville, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in December 2009, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation under the supervision of the Bradford County Probation Department for a term of 12 months. While in the ARD Program, Sane must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel; she will also lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days. Trooper James Dughi of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Sane for the offense following investigation of a motor vehicle crash that occurred in Tuscarora Township.

Matthew Williams, 29, Monroeton, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol (first offense), was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation under the supervision of the Bradford County Probation Department for a term of 12 months. While in the ARD Program, Williams must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel; he will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days. Trooper Thad Warnick of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Williams for the offense following investigation of a motor vehicle crash that occurred in North Towanda Township.

Ralph L. Taylor, 24, South Waverly, N.Y., charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in November 2009, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation under the supervision of the Bradford County Probation Department for a term of 12 months. While in the ARD Program, Taylor must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel; he will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days. Officer Bruce Hoffman of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Taylor for the offense following investigation of a traffic violation.

Alden E. Eberlin, 68, New Albany, charged with simple assault in November 2009, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation under the supervision of the Bradford County Probation Department for a term of 12 months. Trooper Franklin Harvey of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Eberlin for the offense following investigation of an incident that occurred in Terry Township.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that the following persons were found not guilty after jury trials:

Trevor Webster, 29, of Towanda, was found not guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol after a jury trial presided over by the Honorable Maureen Beirne. Webster will, however, lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months for refusing to submit to blood alcohol testing at the time of his arrest. Trooper Wayne Dunkling of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Webster for the offense following investigation of an incident that occurred in Towanda Township.

Matthew Miller, 29, Towanda, was found not guilty of possession of drug paraphernalia (marijuana-related), a misdemeanor, after a jury trial in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas. Miller was charged with the offense on the basis of his pre-arrest statement to the police that the controlled substance-related items found in his car belonged to him. At trial, however, Miller asserted that the items belonged to someone else. Following the trial, Miller was charged with hindering a criminal investigation by lying to the police when he initially claimed ownership of the paraphernalia for the possession of which he was arrested.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that criminal charges filed against the following person have been withdrawn:

Counts of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, each a misdemeanor, filed against Christopher Johnson, 20, Towanda, were withdrawn by the Commonwealth on March 16, 2010. The charges were withdrawn because, at the time of withdrawal, Johnson had served four months in the Bradford County Correctional Facility dating from the time of his arrest and he had cooperated with the Commonwealth in the prosecution of another case. Trooper James Dughi of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Johnson for the offense in September 2009 following investigation of an incident that occurred in Athens Borough.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that the following person entered a plea of Nolo Contendere in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas on March 22, 2010. A plea of Nolo Contendere has the same legal effect as a guilty plea. A defendant entering a plea of Nolo Contendere, while not admitting to the specific facts of the offense(s) alleged, concedes that he/she will probably not be able to overcome evidence of his/her guilt offered by the Commonwealth at trial.

Arthur K. Lattimer, 44, Gillett, entered a plea of Nolo Contendere to driving under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor. Lattimer will be sentenced on May 17, 2010, after preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. At sentencing, Lattimer faces a maximum sentence of up to six months plus fine(s), costs, restitution to victims, and any other sanction deemed appropriate by the sentencing court. Trooper Bryan Fedor of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Lattimer for the offense in August 2009 following an incident that occurred in Ridgebury Township.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that the following person was found guilty following non-jury trial on March 25, 2010, in the Court of Common Pleas, Towanda, Pa.:

Amanda Barlow, 48, Columbia Cross Roads, PA, was found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor, and numerous summary offenses, following non-jury trail before the Honorable Jeffrey A. Smith. Barlow will be sentenced on May 23, 2010, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. At sentencing, Barlow faces a maximum sentence of up to six months plus fine(s), costs restitution to victims, loss of Pennsylvania driving privilege for at least 12 months, and any other conditions deemed appropriate by the sentencing court. Trooper Steven Scoble of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Barlow for the offense in December 2009 following investigation of a motor vehicle crash that occurred in Burlington Township.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that the following people were sentenced in the Court of Common Pleas, Towanda, Pa., on March 26, 2010:

Randy Dunlap, 24, Mehoopany, Pa., was sentenced to a total term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility of from 14 months to 36 months for burglary, a felony of the second degree and theft by unlawful taking, a felony of the third degree. Dunlap was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $18,073.27. The sentence was imposed following earlier guilty pleas. Trooper James Kerrick of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Dunlap for the offenses in 2007 after incidents in Wilmot Township. Dunlap may be eligible for parole after serving the minimum sentence, and, if paroled, he will be subject to supervision and monitoring by the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole.

Michael J. Hackett, 31, Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to a total term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 240 days to 23 months, 29 days, with 120 days of the sentence to be served on house arrest under electronic monitoring, and a total fine of $300, for 2 counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, each a misdemeanor of the first degree. Hackett will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 36 months. The sentence was imposed following earlier guilty pleas. Officers Josh Lake and David Lantz of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Hackett for the offenses in August and December, 2009, respectively. Hackett may be eligible for parole after serving the minimum sentence, and, if paroled, he will be subject to supervision and monitoring by the Bradford County Probation Department.

Devin L. Sparkman, 24, Arcata, Calif., was sentenced to a total term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 47 days to one year, and a total fine of $300, for resisting arrest, a misdemeanor of the second degree. The sentence was imposed following an earlier guilty plea. Trooper Benjamin Bigus of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Sparkman for the offense in October 2009 after an incident in Sylvania Borough. Sparkman may be eligible for parole after serving the minimum sentence, and, if paroled, he will be subject to supervision and monitoring by the Bradford County Probation Department.

Noel Schad, 41, Canton, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 72 hours to six months, and a fine of $750, for driving under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor. Schad will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. The sentence was imposed following an earlier guilty plea. Officer Randy Epler of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Schad for the offense in August 2009. Schad may be eligible for parole after serving the minimum sentence, and, if paroled, he will be subject to supervision and monitoring by the Bradford County Probation Department.

Shawn R. Owen, 43, Canton, Pa., was sentenced to a total term of imprisonment in the Bradford Correctional Facility of from 10 days to 12 months, and a total fine of $400, for criminal trespass, and harassment, each a misdemeanor of the third degree. The sentence was imposed following an earlier guilty plea. Officer Donald Stringham of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested Owen for the offense in October 2009. Owen may be eligible for parole after serving the minimum sentence, and, if paroled, he will be subject to supervision and monitoring by the Bradford County Probation Department.

Jason A. Larsen, 29, Rome, Pa., was sentenced to County Intermediate Punishment for a term of six months with 72 hours imprisonment, 60 days on house arrest under electronic monitoring and the remainder of the sentence to be served on probation. Larsen was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,000, and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. The sentence was imposed following an earlier guilty plea. Larsen was originally placed under ARD supervision for the offense but he was removed from the ARD program for violation of program conditions. Corporal Albert Ogden of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Larsen for the offense in September 2007 after an incident in Wysox Township. While on County Intermediate Punishment, Larsen will be subject to supervision and monitoring by the Bradford County Probation Department.

Ira R. McCartney, 30, Gillett, Pa., was sentenced to a total term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from five months to 23 months, 29 days, and a total fine of $1,250, for driving under the influence of alcohol, an ungraded misdemeanor, and hit and run involving damage to property, a misdemeanor of the third degree. The sentence was imposed following earlier guilty pleas. McCartney will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. Trooper Wayne Dunkling of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested McCartney for the offense in August 2009 after an incident in Ridgebury Township. McCartney may be eligible for parole after serving the minimum sentence, and, if paroled, he will be subject to supervision and monitoring by the Bradford County Probation Department.

Shawn M. Miller, 34, Troy, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for six months to 18 months, and a fine of $500, for obstruction of administration of law, a misdemeanor of the second degree. The sentence was imposed following an earlier guilty plea. Trooper Robert McKee of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Miller for the offense in September 2009 following an incident in Springfield Township. Miller may be eligible for parole after serving the minimum sentence, and, if paroled, he will be subject to supervision and monitoring by the Bradford Probation Department.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that the following persons entered guilty pleas in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda, Pa., on March 29, 2010:

Edgar A. Mejia, 22, Sayre, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor. Mejia was sentenced immediately after his plea of guilty to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for a term of from three months to six months, and a fine of $1,000. Mejia will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months, because of his DUI conviction, and for an additional 12 month term because he refused to submit to chemical testing of his blood at the time of his arrest. Trooper Joshua Fisher of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Mejia for the offense in November 2009 following investigation of a motor vehicle crash that occurred in Ulster Township.

Dale A. Talada, 50, Sayre, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Talada will be sentenced on May 20, 2010, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. At sentencing, Talada faces a maximum sentence of up to five years, plus fine(s), costs, restitution to victims, and any other sanction deemed appropriate by the court. Officer Daniel Thomas of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Talada for the offense in November 2009.

Joshua C. Park, 22, Milan, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to criminal mischief, a misdemeanor of the second degree and harassment, a summary offense. Park will be sentenced on May 20, 2010, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. At sentencing, Park faces a maximum sentence of up to two years and 90 days, plus fine(s), costs, restitution to victims and any other conditions deemed appropriate by the sentencing court. Officer Daniel Thomas of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Park for the offense in October 2009.

Brian K. Taber, 35, Troy, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to criminal trespass, a felony of the second degree. Taber will be sentenced on May 20, 2010, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. At sentencing, Taber faces a maximum sentence of up to 10 years, plus fine(s), costs, restitution to victims and any other conditions deemed appropriate by the sentencing court. Officer Michael Northup of the Troy Borough Police Department arrested Tabor for the offense in December 2009.

Allen B. Preston, 26, Canton, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to sexual assault, a felony of the second degree, and corruption of minors, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Preston will be sentenced on May 20, 2010, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. At sentencing, Preston faces a maximum sentence of up to 15 years, plus fine(s), costs, restitution to victims and any other conditions deemed appropriate by the sentencing court. Officer Brian Wibirt of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested Preston for the offense in December 2009.

Kimberly Putnam, 27, Canton, Pa., charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in October 2009, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation under the supervision of the Bradford County Probation Department for a term of 12 months. While in the ARD Program, Putnam must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel; she will also lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Sergeant Lance Larcom of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested Putnam for the offense following investigation of a traffic violation that occurred in Canton Borough.

Lisa L. Reynolds, 40, Monroeton, Pa., charged with obstruction of administration of justice in October 2009, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation under the supervision of the Bradford County Probation Department for a term of three months. While in the ARD Program, Reynolds must perform community service. Chief Detective Gregory Hostettler of the Bradford County District Attorney's Officer arrested Reynolds for the offense following investigation of an incident that occurred in West Burlington Township.
