Minor injuries reported in Springfield Township crash

One person suffered minor injuries in an accident which occurred at around 3:50 p.m. on Jan. 31 on state Route 4014 in Smithfield Twp., state police at Towanda said.

The crash occurred as a 1987 Mercury Grand Marquis operated by Kreg Padilla, 21, of Sayre, was negotiating a left curve on the east bound lane of state Route 4014, police said. Padilla's vehicle traveled off of the eastbound berm and impacted a ditch, police said, when it became airborne and then struck a parked trailer.

The vehicle traveled on the eastbound berm for approximately 162 feet and came to final rest on the westbound lane of the highway, police said.

Police said Padilla was charged.

ATV stolen

Between Jan. 27 and Jan. 30, a 2007 Yamaha ATV, red and black with black rims, was stolen from a location along state Route 1043 in Sheshequin Twp., state police at Towanda said.

Police listed the victim as a 30-year-old Elmira, N.Y. man. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Towanda at (570) 265-2186.

DUI in North Towanda Twp.

Raymond Sandfort of Sayre, no age given, was arrested for DUI following an incident that occurred shortly after midnight on Jan. 17 on U.S. Route 6 at Patterson Boulevard in North Towanda Township, according to state police at Towanda.

Further investigation revealed that Sandfort was involved in a hit-and-run crash of an unattended vehicle, police said.

Mower stolen

A Troy Bilt Sickle Mower with a 32 inch deck was taken in a burglary that occurred between Jan. 23 and Jan. 27 on Marsh Road in Albany Twp., state police at Towanda said.

Police listed the victim as a 79-year-old Wilmington, Del. man.

Unknown actors broke a window to gain entry into a shed and took the mower, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Towanda at (570) 265-2186.

Man accused of breaking into hardware store

A Carbondale man was ordered incarcerated in lieu of $200,000 bail recently on allegations he burglarized a hardware store in Wyalusing Township.

According to information provided by the state police, William Lawrence Gabriel, 40, has been charged with burglary, theft, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, receiving stolen property, possessing instruments of a crime, tampering with evidence, and driving while his license was suspended.

Police said that Gabriel is accused of breaking into Ace Hardware, located on Route 6 in Wyalusing Township. Police said the incident occurred between 3:30 and 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 14. Gabriel was eventually taken into custody by the Lackawanna County Probation Department, and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, who ordered the defendant place in the Bradford County Correctional Facility in lieu of $200,000 bail.
