Harassment in Sheshequin Twp.

John J. Meehan, 21, of Wyalusing, is accused of contacting a 20-year-old female, no name or address given, and making threatening statements that served no legitimate purpose, according to state police at Towanda.

The incident of harassment occurred at around 7 p.m. on Jan. 25 on Warner Road in Sheshequin Township, police said.

DUI in Ulster Twp.

Jonathon P. Mowry, 31, of Towanda, was arrested for DUI after police observed a vehicle driven by Mowry violating traffic code statutes and a vehicle stop was conducted, according to state police at Towanda. The incident occurred at around 1:16 a.m. on Jan. 22 on U.S. Route 220 in Ulster Township, police said.

Charges will be filed pending a blood alcohol concentration test, police said.

Juvenile charged in theft

A 17-year-old female from Waverly, N.Y., was arrested on Jan. 15 for misdemeanor petit larceny and trespass following investigation into a report from a Village resident that a laptop computer and printer had been stolen from his property, according to Waverly police.

The victim reported to police that a package containing a laptop computer and printer had been stolen from his front porch, police said; the value of the stolen property was valued at $1,200.

The items had been left on the victim's front porch on Dec. 17 by a delivery company, police said. Following investigation into the theft, police located and arrested the youth for stealing the items off the porch.

Police said the juvenile has been accused of trespassing on the porch to steal the packages and selling the stolen items to another person.

She was issued an appearance ticket to answer the allegations at 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 in the Village of Waverly Justice Court.

Waverly man charged with assault

Louis A. Martin, 44, of Waverly, N.Y., was arrested on Jan. 21 on an active arrest warrant charging him with misdemeanor assault in the third degree, misdemeanor criminal trespass and harassment in the second degree, a violation, according to Waverly police.

Martin was wanted by police in regards to accusations that he had entered into an ex-girlfriend's apartment in Waverly, N.Y. and assaulted her after being asked to leave by her, police said; the incident is alleged to have occurred at around 6 p.m. on Nov. 21.

Martin was arraigned in the Village of Waverly Justice Court and released to await further court action, police said.

Waverly woman charged with forgery, larceny

Andrea N. Wiles, 28, of Waverly was arrested on Jan. 21 for felony forgery in the second degree and misdemeanor petit larceny following investigation into a report of a theft of a Tioga County, N.Y. social services check, according to Waverly police.

Wiles is accused of stealing the check from her landlord on Jan. 4, forging his name to the check and then cashing the check at a local bank, police said.

Wiles was arraigned in Village of Waverly Justice Court on Jan. 21 and was then released to await further court action, police said.

Athens man charged with indecent assault

Norman Daniel Derrig, 50, of Athens, has been charged with indecent assault in connection with an incident alleged to have occurred on Sept. 1, 2007, according to state police at Towanda.

The charge stems from allegations made by a 15-year-old female that Derrig had indecent sexual contact with her, police said.

A warrant from District Court 42-3-02 was served on Derrig on Jan. 21 at his residence, police said. After a preliminary arraignment, Derrig was remanded to Bradford County jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, police said.

No injuries reported in Smithfield Twp. crash

No one was injured in an accident that occurred at around 7:20 a.m. on Jan. 19 on state Route 4001 in Smithfield Township, according to state police at Towanda.

The accident occurred as a 2000 Chevrolet Lumina operated by Katherine Kingsley, 23, of Ulster, was traveling south on state Route 4001, police said. Kingsley lost control of her vehicle, police said, and impacted the side of a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier operated by Bart Silverstrim, 32, of Towanda, on the center of the roadway. Silverstrim was traveling northbound at the time of the accident, police said.

Police said Kingsley was charged.

No injuries reported in Sheshequin Twp. crash

No one was injured in a motor vehicle accident occurring at around 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 23 on Woodrun Road in Sheshequin Twp., according to state police at Towanda.

The accident occurred as a Ford F350 operated by Thomas Stroud, 31, of Wysox, encountered a heavily iced roadway while negotiating a downgrade, lost control and hit the embankment on the right side of the roadway, police said.

Neither Stroud nor any of his three passengers were injured, police said.

Police said Stroud was not charged.

Two men charged in connection with cabin burglary

On Jan. 22, the Tioga County Sheriff's Department reported that two men were arrested and charged with burglary in connection to a theft of a BB Gun and a .22 caliber magnum rifle and ammunition in connection with a reported burglary at a cabin located at 1450 Coryell Rd. in the Town of Nichols.

According to a press release from the sheriff's department:

Arrested were Joshua E. Williams, 26, of 280 Dean Creek Rd., Lockwood, N.Y., and Matthew R. Holmes, 21, of 473 Prospect Hill Rd., Barton, N.Y.

Williams was charged with second degree burglary, a class C felony, for the alleged entrance into the cabin and the theft of a BB gun. Holmes was charged with second degree burglary for the alleged entrance into the cabin and theft of a .22 caliber magnum rifle and ammunition.

Both men were arraigned before Justice Charles Quick, Town of Nichols court, and remanded to the Tioga County Jail without bail. Both men were scheduled to reappear before Justice Quick on Jan. 26.
