Man faces hearing
Harry Wolovich, 21, of 80 E. Main St., Canton, faces a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on charges of possession of controlled substance and manufacture of controlled substance for a reported incident at 11 p.m. April 24 on Springbrook Drive in Canton, according to court papers.
Police conducted a traffic stop and Wolovich, one of the passengers in the vehicle, was asked if he possessed anything that was illegal and a search was done, the papers note.
According to an affidavit, police found a bag containing what appeared to be a dried, plant-like material, and it was determined that Wolovich possessed a controlled or counterfeit substance, namely psilocyn mushrooms.
The date of his hearing was not available, according to Wilcox's office.
Man faces possession charge
Gabriel S. Spencer, 34, of RR2, Box 20, Columbia Crossroads, faces a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy at 1 p.m. Nov. 3 on a charge of use of or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia for possessing 17 hypodermic needles and a digital scale with residue, according to court papers.
Spencer is also charged with recklessly endangering another person for possessing the needles, some of which had no caps, leaving them accessible in the presence of a child, the papers note.
According to an affidavit:
Pennsylvania State Police received information from the Cayuga County, N.Y. Sheriff's Department on Feb. 11 that Spencer and co-defendant, Christina Cole, no age or address given, were arrested for an attempted theft of anhydrous ammonia, and were arrested for grand larceny of anhydrous ammonia, burglary and petit larceny. The affidavit notes that they fled and were later captured and charged.
Police contacted Children and Youth Services, and CYS case officers and police went to Spencer's residence, and entered the living area and found a hypodermic needle, without a cap, sitting on top of the computer desk, a digital scale with white residue in the kitchen area, an unlocked safe that contained 16 hypodermic needles, some of which had no caps, located on the kitchen floor, one can of starting fluid and two large metal tanks.
Spencer was placed in jail with his straight bail set at $65,000.
Man faces DUI charge
Scott Charles Hoover, 35, of Wyalusing, faces a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton of Wysox at 12:45 p.m. Nov. 25 on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, a lane violation, careless driving, false reports, and not wearing a properly adjusted and fastened safety seat belt system for a one-vehicle crash Sept. 18 on Route 6 in Wyalusing, according to court papers.
His BAC results were .247 percent.
Man faces theft charge
Joshua A. Goodwin, 26, of Roanoke, Va., faces a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton of Wysox at 1:45 p.m. Nov. 18 on charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition, theft by deception, receiving stolen property, forgery, and bad checks for a reported incident at the Goodwin residence sometime between July 10 and Aug. 4 in Rome Township, according to court papers.
According to an affidavit, he is accused of taking various checks from his father's checkbook, forging them, and passing about 24 checks totaling $1,543.
