Gas stolen in Dushore
At around 3:45 p.m. on Nov. 8, someone drove off with $42.45 worth of gasoline from the Pump and Pantry on U.S. 220 in Dushore, according to state police at Towanda.
Juveniles cited
Waverly police said they have cited three local male juveniles for criminal mischief following investigation into recent damage to the Waverly Muldoon Park Gazebo in Waverly, N.Y.
The juveniles are alleged to have intentionally damaged the decorative railings within the park gazebo at around 4:40 p.m. on Oct. 23, police said.
Police said one of the juveniles is 14 years old and the other two are both 15. The estimated cost of the damage was reported at $400, police said. The youths, along with their parents, have been issued appearance tickets to answer to the charges on Nov. 17 at the Tioga County Probation Department, Owego, N.Y.
Police said the Waverly Parks and Recreation Department assisted with the investigation.
Waverly woman charged with harassment
Jody Lynn Frutchey, 30, of 117 Chemung St., Waverly, N.Y., was arrested for harassment in the second degree at 10:15 p.m. on Nov. 6, according to the Waverly Police Department.
Frutchey is accused of throwing a coffee maker and a coffee pot at an alleged male victim at 9:28 a.m. on Nov. 5, police said.
The allegations report that "hot" coffee was spilled over the victim's arm, police said, and no physical injury was reported by the victim.
Frutchey was issued an appearance ticket to answer the charges at 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 in Village of Waverly Justice Court, police said.
Burglary in Waverly
Ryan Charles Slater, 24, of Waverly, N.Y., was arrested at 3:10 p.m. on Nov. 9 for felony burglary in the third degree, according to the Waverly Police Department.
Slater is accused of entering an apartment at 8:05 a.m. on Nov. 9 through a rear window with the intent of committing a larceny, police said.
A neighbor called 911 and reported the incident, police said.
Slater was arraigned on Nov. 9 in the Village of Waverly Justice Court and was sent to the Tioga County Jail in Owego, N.Y., to await further court action, police said; bail was set at $5,000 or $10,000 property bond.
Man accused of DUI
A Sayre man was charged by Athens Township police recently with driving while under the influence.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Patrick Colter, 24, has also been charged with operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license, driving on the wrong side of the road, careless driving, and operating a vehicle without insurance.
Police reported being called to the scene of a vehicle accident on Oct. 24 on Wolcott Hollow Road. When they arrived, police said, they spoke to Colter who was identified as the driver of the vehicle, and detected an odor of alcohol on his breath. Colter was asked to perform a series of field sobriety tests, all of which he performed poorly, police said.
Colter was placed under arrest for DUI, and transported to Robert Packer Hospital where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Colter's BAC was .17 percent on the day of the accident.
Colter has been sent a summons to appear before Judge Shaw on Dec. 8.
Woman facing DUI charge
A South Waverly woman has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw to answer a charge of driving while under the influence.
According to information filed at Shaw's office, Sandra M. Sorensen, 32, of 114½ S. Keystone Ave., has been charged by South Waverly police with the above offense.
Police reported responding to an incident on Oct. 24 at 372 Fulton Street. During the incident, police said, they spoke to Sorensen, who appeared to be intoxicated, and she admitted to drinking beer earlier. Police said that Sorensen was warned not to drive her vehicle. However, a short time later, Sorensen was spotted driving, and she was stopped and charged with DUI. Sorensen was transported to Robert Packer Hospital where she agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Sorensen's BAC was .15 percent on the day of the incident.
Sorensen is scheduled to appear before Judge Shaw on Dec. 1.
Man accused of ethnic intimidation
A Wyalusing man has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton to answer a charge of ethnic intimidation.
According to papers filed in Wheaton's office, Elvin Baez, 21, has also been charged by state police with harassment.
Baez is accused of sending a threatening text message containing obscene words via a cell phone to Beth Kaczar on June 26, 2009.
Baez's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 2 before Judge Wheaton.
Man charged with burglary
A Sayre man accused of burglarizing a private residence and a business was recently ordered incarcerated in lieu of bail.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Justice Fred Wheaton, Andrew R. Johnson, 18, has been charged by state police with burglary, illegal possession of firearms, and receiving stolen property.
Police reported that Johnson is suspected of having entered the residence of William Snyder Jr. of Rome in Windham Township between July 27 and July 20, and removed a number of items from the premises.
According to the report, among the items Johnson is accused of having stolen are: a Martin Bengal compound bow with sites, quiver and bolts; a PSE compound bow with sites, quiver and bolts; a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver; a Mossberg 500 12-gauge shotgun; a Steven Savage Mod 322A .22 Hornet with Weaver scope; a Marlin .22 with scope; a .270 Remington 7600 pump with scope; a Mossberg 500 AT 12-gauge shotgun; and a Winchester 30-30 Canadian Centennial 67.
Also, Johnson is suspected of having broken into Athens Agway in Athens Borough between July 24 and July 25 and stolen a Ruger GP-100 revolver and a CZ-USA Model 75B 9mm pistol.
Johnson was arraigned before Judge Wheaton, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $10,000 bail. Johnson's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 18.
Rome man faces marijuana charge
A Rome man has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton to answer a charge of possession of marijuana.
According to papers filed in Wheaton's office, state police have filed the above charge against Mark A. Shaffer, 31. Shaffer is accused of dropping a bag containing a substance that later tested positive as marijuana on April 13, 2009 at the Dandy Mini Mart.
Shaffer is scheduled to appear before Judge Wheaton on Nov. 20.
Two facing drug charges
Two people were recently ordered incarcerated in lieu of bail on allegations they sold heroin to an undercover police informant.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Lindsey L. Polzella, 23, and Justin M. Kipling, 25, both of 328 S. Main St., Athens, are each facing charges filed by the state police of intent to deliver a controlled substance; possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; and operating a motor vehicle while their license were suspended or revoked.
Polzella and Kipling are accused of selling 10 bags of a substance that later tested positive as heroin on June 30, 2009 to a confidential police informant in Athens Borough for $240.
In addition, the two have also been charged with selling five bags of what later tested positive as heroin to the same confidential informant on Aug. 11, 2009, for $130.
