The Canton Police Department is investigating a vehicle theft that occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 9.

According to police:

The vehicle taken was a 2004 Pontiac four-door Grand Prix GT, black in color with registration GWV0359 PA. It has Harley Davison written in silver across the top of the windshield. The keys were left in the vehicle with approximately one-half of a tank of gas. The vehicle belongs to Darin Eddy, no age given, of Canton, and it was last seen headed south on Route 14. The driver is believed to be a white male in his early 20s with a thin build and approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall wearing a yellow sweatshirt, blue jeans and a dark blue baseball cap. This person was in town looking for a ride to Williamsport just before the vehicle was stolen. Anybody with information is asked to contact Canton Police Department at (570) 673-5133.

Charges pending

At 3:12 p.m. Oct. 26, Canton police responded to 139 East Main St. at Canton High School for a disturbance between two juvenile students. Police said it's still under investigation and charges are pending.

Man charged with DUI

A Columbia Cross Roads man has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark to answer a charge of driving while under the influence.

According to information filed in Clark's office, H. Raymond MacBride, 62, has also been charged by state police with driving on the wrong side of the road and careless driving.

Police reported stopping a Chevrolet pickup truck on Oct. 30 after observing it traveling in an erratic manner. While talking to the driver, identified as MacBride, police said they observed his eyes were bloodshot and that he had a moderate odor of alcohol on his person.

MacBride was arrested for DUI after failing two field sobriety tests, police reported, and transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that MacBride's BAC was .104 percent on the day of his arrest.

MacBride's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 16.

Man accused of providing false information

A New York man has been charged by state police with providing false information to authorities.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Christopher M. Clark, 38, of Addison, has also been charged with providing false identification to law enforcement authorities.

Police reported stopping a vehicle on July 5, 2009, on U.S. Route 6 in North Towanda Township. During the stop, police said several of the vehicle's occupants were cited for not wearing their seatbelts, including a person who identified himself as Christopher Michael Brown.

On Oct. 23, the report continued, police spoke with two constables who had attempted to serve a warrant on Brown a few days later. Police said they determined that the information given to them on July 5 by person who had identified himself as Brown was not correct. Further investigation into the matter revealed person's real identity was Christopher Clark, police said, and that he had given them the name of his nephew on July 5. The report indicated that Clark had given false information to the police because he knew there are outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Clark's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 11.
