Man cited in Sayre

Robert Santa-Ines, 37, of Sayre, was cited in connection with an incident which occurred at around 7:16 p.m. on Oct. 20 on South Wilbur Avenue in Sayre, according to the Sayre Borough Police Department.

Police said they were dispatched on the above date and time to a motor vehicle accident involving a car and a pedestrian. Santa-Ines allegedly struck an employee of the Robert Packer Hospital, Doris Palmiter, 60, of Barton, N.Y., while she was returning to the campus from her dinner break, police said. Palmiter was walking in the crosswalk on South Wilbur Avenue directly across from the park, police said, and was transported to Robert Packer Hospital by Greater Valley EMS.

Wysox man charged with assault

Karlton R. Kisner, 35, of Wysox is accused of subjecting a 27-year-old Ulster man to physical contact, state police said.

During the incident, which occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. on July 25 at a residence off of state Route 1038 in Warren Township, Kisner bit the victim's nose, police said.

Kisner has been charged with simple assault, the state police at Towanda said this week.

Traffic signs vandalized in Herrick Twp.

Someone recently spray-painted a stop sign and two yellow "curve ahead" warning signs in Herrick Township, police said.

This case of criminal mischief occurred sometime between 7 p.m. on Oct. 31 and 3 p.m. on Nov. 1 on state Route 1012, state police said.

Ulster woman charged with forgery

Stefany Jean Miller, 22, of Ulster is accused of forging and cashing two checks totaling $422 without the victim's permission, police said.

State police identified the victim as a 50-year-old man from Waverly, N.Y.

The checks were cashed at the Peoples State Bank in Ulster and the Corporate America Family Credit Union in North Towanda Township, police said.

These crimes occurred between Oct. 14 and Oct. 20, police said.

Miller has been charged with the second-degree felony of forgery and the first-degree misdemeanor of receiving stolen property, police said.

Following her arraignment in Towanda District Court, Miller was sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail, police said.

Two injured in Wysox Twp. crash

Two people from West Virginia suffered minor injuries in a recent motor vehicle accident on U.S. Route 6 in Wysox Township, police said.

The accident occurred when a vehicle operated by Craig T. Wurzbacher of Harrison, W.Va., was stopped in traffic in the eastbound lane of Route 6, police said.

Victoria N. Cooley, 23, of Towanda, who was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo east on Route 6, failed to observe that Wurzbacher's vehicle was stopped and rear-ended it, police said.

Wurzbacher, 48, and a passenger in his vehicle - 27-year-old Sarah M. Kezman of Harrison, W.Va. - suffered minor injuries, state police said.

Cooley and her passenger were uninjured in the crash, which occurred at 5:26 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the state police at Towanda.

Man charged with DUI

A Rome man was arrested by state police recently on a charge of driving while under the influence.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Justice Fred Wheaton, Roger L. Evans, 37, has also been charged with operating a vehicle without insurance, speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road, careless driving, failure to wear his seat belt, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Evans was charged by police following a traffic stop on Aug. 1, when a Ford truck was observed being operated in an erratic manner on state Route 467 in LeRaysville. Evans was taken into custody and transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda where he refused to submit to a blood test.

Evans' preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 25 before Judge Wheaton.

Man charged with terroristic threats

A Towanda man was charged by borough police recently with terroristic threats.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Michael P. McCarter, 22, has also been charged with stalking and harassment.

Police reported that McCarter is accused of stalking and threatening a juvenile female, even after being warned by the authorities not to have any contact with her.

McCarter was arrested and arraigned before Judge Clark, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $15,000 bail.
