Woman injured
State police at Towanda said Geraldine M. Kotsko, 41, of Towanda, had moderate injuries in a crash at 9:45 p.m. Nov. 30 on Route 6 in Burlington Township.
Police said she was driving her 2002 KIA Sportage west and, for unknown reasons, lost control. The vehicle crossed both lanes and struck a large rock-faced embankment, spun counter clockwise and rolled over. It came to rest facing southwest on its roof.
Police said alcohol was involved, and an investigation continues. Her vehicle had disabling damage.
Towanda residents to be charged with pot possession
Justin Sluyter, 21, of Towanda and Shawn Bennett, 19, of Towanda will be charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, police said.
The charges will be filed in connection with an incident that had occurred in the early morning hours of Nov. 14, police said.
At 1:56 a.m. on Nov. 14, Sluyter and Bennett were in a red Ford Mustang that was pulled over by Towanda police because police had observed it being driven erratically in the borough, police said.
While Sluyter, who was driving the car, passed field sobriety tests, police had information that the people in the car were possibly dealing in drugs, police said. Also, when police initially pulled over the vehicle, the people inside it were moving around, as if they were trying to hide something, police said.
Therefore, the Towanda police dog was brought to the scene of the traffic stop to perform a canine sniff outside the vehicle, police said. The dog, which is used to detect the presence of drugs, indicated that there were drugs inside the car by scratching the passenger side door, police said.
"We (then) asked the driver if we could search the vehicle, and the driver consented," Towanda Police Officer John Hennessy said.
During the search, police found a red, metal container below the front passenger seat, which contained 1.1 grams of marijuana, Hennessy said.
Sluyter, who lives at 601 Fourth St., admitted it was his container, police said.
Bennett, who was sitting in the rear passenger seat, told police that Sluyter had handed him the container and that he (Bennett) was going to roll a joint with the marijuana it contained, police said.
However, when Bennett, who lives at 208 Bridge St., saw that the vehicle might be stopped by the police, he stuffed the container beneath the seat in front of him, police said.

Two vehicles sustain moderate damage in Sullivan County crash
A 2002 Ford operated by Abby Lee Joines Williams, 22, of Dushore and a 2007 Ford operated by Irene R. Hufford, 84, also of Dushore, both sustained moderate damage in a crash occurring at around 2:45 p.m. on Nov. 30 about one mile north of Dushore Borough on state Route 220 in Cherry Township, Sullivan County, according to state police at Laporte.
The accident occurred as Williams' vehicle struck the rear of Hufford's vehicle when Hufford stopped to allow another vehicle to turn into the Dollar General, police said.
