Towanda woman charged with theft

Mary Ellen Miksis, 51, of Towanda is accused of stealing 29 items, whose total value is $366.08, from the Kmart department store in Wysox Township, police said.

The thefts occurred between 1:10 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, state police at Towanda said.

Miksis has been charged with misdemeanor retail theft, police said.

Vehicle vandalized in N. Towanda

Someone spray-painted a vehicle recently that was parked in Northern Tier Counseling's parking lot on U.S. Route 6 in North Towanda Township, police said.

The vehicle is owned by a 52-year-old woman from Monroeton, police said.

The vandalism occurred sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Monday, state police at Towanda said.

Monroeton man faces drug charges

Casey Ryan House, 23, of Monroeton has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and use of drug paraphernalia, police said.

After House had a positive urine test, the Bradford County Probation Department found white residues in several straws and on a shelf in his residence, police said.

Lab tests showed the residues contained oxycodone, codeine and dihydrocodeinone, state police at Towanda said.

The residues were found at approximately 1:19 p.m. on Nov. 17, police said.

House was arraigned on Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark, who set House's bail at $5,000.

House must appear before Judge Clark on March 10 for a preliminary hearing.

Canton woman charged with DUI

Debra Stettler, 46, of Canton was recently charged with DUI after she was involved in a one-vehicle accident on state Route 414 in Franklin Township.

Stettler was uninjured in the crash, which occurred at approximately 2:09 p.m. on Feb. 18, police said.

A test showed that the amount of alcohol in Stettler's blood was above the legal limit, state police at Towanda said.

Stettler, who lives at 165 N. Center St., has been sent a summons that orders her to appear before Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on April 16.

Marijuana found in Smithfield Township

State police at Towanda reported that a glassine bag containing a small amount of marijuana was found at the Animal Care Sanctuary on state Route 4014 in Smithfield Township.

The bag was dropped between 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 22 and 12:10 p.m. on Feb. 23, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Towanda.

Sayre man charged

Cody Allen Ede, 21, of Sayre, faces a charge of hindering apprehension or prosecution in connection with an incident that occurred at around 1:20 p.m. on Feb. 19 in Athens Township, according to court documents filed at Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw's office.

Ede is accused of volunteering false information to police officers while they were attempting to serve a warrant of arrest for Alvin L. Ayers, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing has been set for March 23 for Ede to answer the charge.

Sayre woman charged with DWI

Lisa F. Durizch, 44, of Sayre, was arrested for misdemeanor DWI and misdemeanor aggravated DWI at 10:53 p.m. on March 1 following investigation of a motor vehicle accident that occurred in the parking lot of The Tank Restaurant on North Chemung Street in the Village of Waverly, according to Waverly police.

Durizch was issued tickets to appear at 4:30 p.m. on March 11 in Village of Waverly Justice Court.

Waverly man charged

Chad R. Whitney, 29, of Waverly, N.Y. was arrested at noon on Feb. 27 for criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor and the violation of harassment following investigation into allegations that he had shoved and choked his girlfriend, all in violation of a active court order of protection between the two, according to Waverly police.

The offense is alleged to have occurred at 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 27 at 31 Lincoln St., Waverly, police said.

Whitney was arraigned in Village of Waverly Justice Court and was released to await further court action on March 4.

Oh gosh golly gee, give em a break. They knew it was supposed to be 03/34/10. The dateline typo was put there on purpose. This was merely a test to see if we reeders? no, wreaders? yeah, dat's it, had any kind of mental acuity whatsoever. We get it Ron, now hire this unemployed proofreader and be done with it.

It's sad how many "typos" are in your paper everyday, needless to say the headlines. I'm unemployed and have experience with proofreading. Maybe I can be of service!!!!
