Two charged after domestic dispute

Two people were taken into custody on Friday, following a domestic dispute.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Mike Shaw, Amanda Nicole Chapman, 24, and Andrew Dan Floyd Jr., 19, both of 511 Glen Valley Road, Athens, have each been charged with simple assault and harassment. The two are accused of striking, scratching, and injuring each other during a domestic dispute at their residence.

Chapman and Floyd were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox, who ordered them incarcerated in the Bradford County jail after they each failed to post $2,500 bail. Their preliminary hearing is scheduled before Judge Shaw on March 9.

Woman charged with retail theft

A Waverly woman has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Mike Shaw to answer a charge of retail theft.

According to information filed in Shaw's office, Brionna Leigh Fassett, 19, of 440 Chemung St., has been charged by Athens Township police with the above offense. Fassett is accused of removing $489 in merchandise on Feb. 8 from the electronics department at K-mart without paying for it.

Fassett's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 9.

Man accused of assaulting police officers

A Sayre man accused of aggravated assault against two police officers was recently ordered incarcerated in lieu of $85,000 bail.

According to information file with Magisterial District Judge Mike Shaw, Christopher T. Babcock, 47, of 243 Desisti Lane, has also been charged by South Waverly police with driving while under the influence, illegally operating a vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock, careless driving, operating a vehicle without insurance, failure to yield to a stop sign, and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.

Police reported investigating a complaint on March 5 of a vehicle parked at the drive-through of the local McDonald's restaurant, even though the business was closed, in which the driver was continuously revving his engine. Police said they spoke to Babcock, who was identified as the driver. During the conversation, police continued, Babcock put his pickup truck in gear and drove away from the scene. An officer was almost knocked to the ground, because he had his arm in the window of Babcock's vehicle when he fled the area. Another officer at the scene was also put at risk because of Babcock's actions, police said.

Athens Township police assisted in the pursuit, and Babcock was eventually caught on a wooded trail on an extension of Park Avenue in Milltown.

Babcock's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 9 before Judge Shaw.

Wysox man faces corruption of minors charge

David J. Spencer, 29, of Wysox faces charges of corruption of minors for allegedly allowing juveniles to watch a pornographic movie, police said.

The incident occurred on Feb. 13 at a location in Wysox Township, state police at Towanda said.

Towanda man charged with theft

Matthew Ford, 42, of Towanda is accused of stealing $15 worth of kerosene fuel from the Dandy Mini Mart in Wysox Township, police said.

Ford has been charged with retail theft, police said.

Report of punching investigated in N. Towanda

A 16-year-old girl says she was recently punched in the face by a female classmate at the Northern Tier Career Center in North Towanda Township, police said.

The incident occurred at 1 p.m. Thursday, state police at Towanda said.

New Albany resident injured in crash

Amanda M. Dickson, 20, of New Albany suffered minor injuries recently after she fell asleep while driving in Hillsgrove Township in Sullivan County, police said.

The accident occurred at 6:12 p.m. Thursday while Dickson was driving north on state Route 87, police said.

Dickson's 1997 Saturn traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and then traveled back onto the roadway, state police at Laporte said.

Charges waived

Julie Lynn Robinson, 45, of Wyalusing, recently waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance and other charges to the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, according to the office of Magisterial District Justice Fred Wheaton.

According to court papers, Robinson had a blood-alcohol content of .154% following a one-vehicle crash at 4:01 a.m. Jan. 17 on Oak Street, east of Marshville Road, in Asylum Township. She was also charged with driving her vehicle at a greater than reasonable speed on a windy dirt road with ice patches, failing to drive her vehicle on the right half of the road and crossing the full width of the road, striking an embankment and overturning her vehicle, and careless driving, the papers note.

Man waives case

Garry L. Weed, 49, of 560 Beauman Rd., Columbia Cross Roads, who was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment, recently waived his case to the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, according to the office of Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw.

According to court papers, Weed was charged for an incident at 9:30 p.m. Jan. 23 outside Tanner's Bar and Grill in Athens Township.

He is accused of injuring Angela Kay Oakley, no age or address given.

Case waived

Joseph Michael Baranyk, 31, of 6263 Checkerville Rd., Gillett, who was charged with aggravated assault and other charges, recently waived his case to the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, according to the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox.

According to court papers, Baranyk was also charged with simple assault, harassment, terroristic threats, and disorderly conduct for an incident at 12:30 a.m. Jan. 22 at 103 E. Main St. behind the Tamarack Tavern in Troy.

He is accused of injuring Benjamin McClure, no age or address given, by repeatedly striking him about the head and face and knocking him to the ground, where he continued to strike his head against the asphalt.
