State police to continue anti-DUI initiative
The state police at Towanda said they are taking part in "Pennsylvania State Police Checkpoint Strike Force II," which is a year-long program, begun in April 2011, which is aimed at taking intoxicated motorists off the road.
Under this initiative, sobriety checkpoints or roving DUI patrols will take place every weekend within the Troop P area, which includes Bradford, Sullivan, Wyoming and Luzerne counties, the state police said in a press release that they issued this week.
These initiatives are being conducted in cooperation with municipal police departments and the Bradford County DUI Task Force, the release said.
"Pennsylvania State Police Checkpoint Strike Force II" is an effort to reduce injuries and deaths associated with alcohol related traffic crashes, the release said.
