Criminal mischief investigated

State police at Towanda said Leanora Wood, no age given, of Monroeton, was charged with summary criminal mischief following an investigation into a complaint from the victim, Jamie Hall, no age given, of New Albany, that her tires had been deflated on two separate occasions between Aug. 1-2 at the Bradford County Manor in West Burlington Township.

Man apprehended

State police at Towanda said Daniel Peters, 30, of Columbia Crossroads, has been charged with flight to avoid apprehension after failing to comply with state parole requirements between July 26 and Aug. 16 in Columbia Township.

Police said a warrant was issued for his arrest on July 26 and he had fled from law enforcement and made attempts to conceal his whereabouts until his apprehension on Aug. 16.

According to police, an investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information is asked to contact state police at Towanda at (570) 265-2186.

Fuel taken

State police at Towanda said someone entered the veneer plant at Oak Hill Veneer Inc. and removed fuel from a machine and vandalized company vehicles in the parking lot between 2:30 p.m. Aug. 7 and 5 a.m. Aug. 9 on state Route 14 in Troy Township.

Money taken

State police at Towanda said $880 from was taken from a dresser of 22-year-old man at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 19 at a residence in Troy Township.

Police said the suspects are a 24-year-old woman and a 54-year-old woman, and charges are pending.

According to police, they were permitted to use the bathroom of the residence and once inside, they took the money.

Harassment reported

State police at Towanda said Billie Whitt Dawson, 57, of Troy Township, is accused in a harassment that occurred at 11 p.m. Aug. 22 at Alparon Park in Troy Township.

Police said the victim was a juvenile, and Dawson pushed the victim. According to police, Dawson was in possession of prescription pills not registered to her.

No one injured

State police at Towanda said no one was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 9:25 p.m. Aug. 6 on Fairview Road in West Burlington Township.

Drivers involved in the incident were Paul L. Darrow, 75, of Towanda, and Dorothy E. Scott, 23, of Towanda, police said.

According to police, Scott was traveling east and Darrow was traveling west, and Darrow failed to yield one-half of the road, causing the left front of his vehicle to strike the left front of Scott's vehicle.

Police said Darrow was charged.

Man charged

State police at Towanda said Moustafa A. Ismail, no age given, of Troy, was charged with one count of arrest prior to requisition for being a fugitive from justice at 1 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Bradford County Correctional Facility in West Burlington Township.

Police said he was wanted on charges out of New York State, and was incarcerated at the jail at the time of the incident and remains there, pending his extradition.

Truck smashed up

State police at Towanda said two male juveniles smashed up the truck of a 43-year-old Canton man at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 on Taylor Road in Canton Township.

Three injured in crash

A two-vehicle accident with three injuries occurred at 2:49 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of routes 220 and 199 at Greens Landing in Athens Township, said Athens Township police.

According to police, a 2000 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Tiffany Westbrook, 23, of Towanda, and a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina, driven by Vivian L. Chisari, 70, of Greens Landing, were involved in the accident..

Both drivers were injured and taken to Robert Packer Hospital, police said. In addition, a passenger in Chisari's vehicle, Robert Chisari, 63, of Greens Landing, was injured and taken to Robert Packer Hospital, police said.

According to police, Westbrook was driving on Route 199 and approaching the intersection with Route 220, and came to a stop sign. After stopping, Westbrook pulled out into the path of Chisari's vehicle, which was heading north on Route 220.

In addition to Athens Township police, the Athens Township Volunteer Fire Department, Greater Valley EMS, and Athens Borough Police Department also responded to the accident.

No injuries reported

A three-vehicle accident with no injuries occurred around 8:48 a.m. Friday on York Avenue in Towanda, said Towanda police.

According to police:

Drivers involved in the accident were Erin Lattimer, 33, of Towanda; David Walters, 63, of Ulster; and David Middaugh, 46, of Rome.

Police said Lattimer was traveling down Chestnut Street and drove south into the intersection with York Avenue, striking Walters' vehicle, which in turn struck Middaugh's vehicle.

Lattimer's and Walters' vehicles were towed and Middaugh was able to drive his vehicle away, police said.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the accident.

Man faces hearing

John Curtis Leonard, 31, of Towanda, faces a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 22 before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton in Wysox on charges of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness and similar misconduct for an incident around 1:15 a.m. July 25 at the Dandy Mart in Wysox Township, according to court papers.

According to an affidavit:

State police saw a fight in the parking lot of the Dandy Mart. Police said Leonard and a man were seen fighting, and Leonard was seen fleeing on foot and was later detained.

Police said Leonard's breath emitted a strong odor of alcoholic beverages.

Man charged with DUI

Nathaniel Lee Ward, 22 of Canton, faces a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox in Troy at noon Aug. 31 in Troy on two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance for an incident at Bailey's Corners Road in Granville Township, according to court papers.

Ward was also charged with stopping his vehicle in the middle of the road, partially blocking both lanes of travel, the papers note. Police said Ward was passed out in the driver's seat with the vehicle running and still in gear. His blood-alcohol content was .182 percent, the papers note.

Wilcox said he was sent a summons.

Man faces hearing

Richard Wayne Brown, 40, of Troy, faces a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. Sept. 1 before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton in Wysox on charges of simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct for an incident June 21 near Crow Hill Road in Tuscarora Township, according to court papers.

The papers note that Brown punched, struck, and shoved the victim, Clifton Veretto, no age or address given.

According to an affidavit:

The incident occurred as a verbal disagreement over loading a truck with water escalated to a full physical confrontation. Police said they spoke to Brown in the emergency room of Troy Hospital, and he related that he was overseeing and operating water pumping equipment from the Dunn well site in Tuscarora Township. He was also in charge of parking and moving trucks at the well site.

Man charged with simple assault

Walter John McGuire, 38, of Gillett, faces a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox in Troy Sept. 14 on charges of simple assault and harassment for an incident around 11:30 p.m. Aug. 12 at his residence in Ridgebury Township, according to court papers.

He is accused of placing his wife, Melanie McGuire, no age given, in a headlock and punching her about the face about seven times during a domestic dispute. Police said she sustained a raised discoloration to the left cheekbone, a bruise on the right bicep, a scratch to the left side of the neck, and a scratch on her upper chest region.
