Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that the following persons recently entered pleas of guilty and were sentenced in Bradford County Magisterial District Courts:

Michael Steele, 23, Waverly, NY, entered a plea of guilty before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw to the offense of Loitering and Prowling at Night Time, a misdemeanor of the third degree, and was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for a term of 30 days and payment of court costs. Officer Eric Keir of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Steele for the offense in October 2012.

Randy Bergman, 45, no permanent address, entered a plea of guilty before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw to the offense of Harassment, a summary violation, and was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for a term of six days and payment of court costs. Officer Thomas VanFleet of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Bergman for the offense in January 2013.

Kyle Simpson, 22, Waverly, NY, entered a plea of guilty before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw to the offense of Retail Theft, a summary violation, and was sentenced to pay a fine of $150; Simpson was also ordered to pay restitution the amount of $233.42 and court costs. Officer Roger Clink of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Simpson for the offense in December 2012.

Marty Jo Stroud, 38, Towanda, PA, entered a plea of guilty before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark to the offense of Disorderly Conduct, a misdemeanor of the third degree, and was sentenced to pay restitution in the amount of $1,000.00 and court costs. Trooper George Layaou of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Stroud for the offense in October 2013 following investigation of an incident that occurred in Towanda Township.

Daniel Berger, 48, Lake Ariel, PA, entered a plea of guilty before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox to two counts of Harassment, each a summary offense, and was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for a term of 90 days and payment of court costs. Trooper Jeffrey Sredenschek of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Berger for the offense in 2011 following investigation of an incident that occurred in South Creek Township.

Tonya Cummings, 43, Troy, PA, entered a plea of guilty before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox to the offense of Criminal Trespass, a misdemeanor of the third degree, and was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for a term 27 days; she was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $150 and court costs. Trooper Michael Mislevy of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Cummings for the offense in August 2012 following investigation of an incident that occurred in Armenia Township.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that the following persons were recently sentenced in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

Floyd Douglas, 41, Towanda, PA, was sentenced to probation for a term of 36 months, and fines totaling $150, for two counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Marihuana), each a felony. Douglas was also ordered to reimburse the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the amount of $500.00 for money used to purchase a controlled substance during the incident that lead to his arrest, and he will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. Agents of the Pennsylvania State Police Vice and Narcotics Unit arrested Douglas for the offenses in September and October 2010 after incidents that occurred in Towanda Borough.

Christopher Goshorn, 33, Towanda, PA, was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 18 days to six months, probation for a term of 18 months, and fines totaling $700, for the offenses of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor; Simple Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree; and Harassment, a summary offense. Goshorn will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. Officer Bryan Bellows of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Goshorn for the offense in September 2012.

Justin Barrowchiff, 24, Towanda, PA, was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 10 days to one year, and a fine of $1,500, for two counts of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, each a misdemeanor. Barrowcliff will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 24 months. Troopers David Pelachick and Joshua Fisher of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Barrowcliff for the offenses in July and September 2012, respectively, after incidents that occurred in Burlington Township and Towanda Borough.

Matthew Schwartz, 31, Athens, PA, was resentenced, following revocation of his original sentence of probation for violation of probation conditions, to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from three months to 12 months, and a fine of $250, for the offense of Theft By Unlawful Taking, a misdemeanor of the third degree. Officer John Fedorchak of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Schwartz for the offense in May 2011.

Geoffrey Groover, 29, Ulster, PA, was sentenced to a total term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility of from one year to five years for the offenses of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree, and Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Groover will also lose his Pennsylvania Driving Privilege for 30 months. Trooper Wayne Dunkling of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Groover for the offenses in August 2012 following an incident that occurred in Burlington Township.

Richard Straub, 24, Sayre, PA, was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from four months to 23 months, and a fine of $150, for the offense of Receiving Stolen Property, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Officer Eric Keir of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Straub for the offense in May 2012.

Justin Walter, 23, Sayre, PA was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility of from one year to four years for the offense of Receiving Stolen Property, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Trooper

Nathan Lewis of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Walter for the offense in April 2012 following an incident that occurred in Wyalusing Borough.

Aaron Vanderpool, 30, Wysox, PA, was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from four months to 23 months, and a fine of $150, for the offense of Theft By Unlawful Taking, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Trooper David Pelachick of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Vanderpool for the offense in July 2011 after an incident that occurred in Wells Township.

Eric Williams, 33, Canton, PA, was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 30 days to six months, and a fine of $750, for the offense of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Williams will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 12 months. Trooper Craig Flynn of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Williams for the offense in November 2011 after an incident that occurred in Franklin Township.
