Monroeton man charged with persons not to possess a firearm

Gregory Neil Hurst, 37, of Monroeton, a convicted felon, has been charged with the third-degree felony of persons not to possess a firearm, police said.

Hurst had a .22 caliber Marlin Model 60 semi-automatic rifle and a .223 caliber lever action rifle at his home at 5:30 p.m. on March 1, state police at Towanda said.

Hurst was arraigned by Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on April 17. Hurst was then released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

Hurst's preliminary hearing in Towanda District Court, which was originally scheduled for April 25, has been postponed. A new date for the hearing has not yet been set.
