Attempted theft occurs in Wysox Twp.
State police said they are investigating an attempted theft from a number of motor vehicles that were parked in a driveway in the 300 block of Laning Creek Road in Wysox Township.
Someone rummaged through the vehicles, which were unlocked, but no items were reported stolen and there was no damage to the vehicles, police said.
The incident occurred sometime between 10 p.m. on Jan. 10 and 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 11 at the residence of Wanda Jean Carter, police said.

Athens student charged with marijuana possession
An Athens man was recently charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana by Athens Borough police.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Dustin P. Yost, 18, was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of tobacco on school property.
Police said Yost and a 16-year-old juvenile male smoked marijuana in a vehicle prior to entering Athens Area High School for classes the morning of Jan. 13. School administrators searched the vehicle and found three lighters, a utility knife, three packs of cigarettes, a plastic bottle with burnt residue and a plastic bag and plastic container holding a substance believed to be marijuana, police said. The items were turned over to police.
Yost's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 18.
