Police Briefs 1/23/2013
According to Pennsylvania State police in Towanda, two residents of a home along Wyalusing-New Albany Road in Terry Township reported that their passports were stolen from the residence sometime between Dec. 21 and Dec. 23. Anyone with information is asked to call the state police at (570) 265-2186.
Two youths charged at Wyalusing High school
A 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old male were charged with disorderly conduct after Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda say the 15-year-old pushed the 16-year-old. The 16-year-old then allegedly began swearing at a teacher. The incidents happened at approximately 12:09 p.m. on Jan. 14 in the Wyalusing Area High School lunch room.
Man charged with simple assault
Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda have charged Steven M. Brown, 37, of Rome, with simple assault and harassment stemming from an incident on or about Aug. 3 at a home on North Rome Road in Rome Twp.
According to police, Brown engaged in a verbal argument with a 43-year-old female at the home, during which time Brown allegedly struck the victim in the leg with an air rifle and pushed her to the floor, breaking her left collarbone. The woman received medical treatment for the injury at Robert Packer Hospital.
Charged were filed against Brown on Jan. 9 before District Justice Fred Wheaton and a summons was sent to Brown, who is currently incarcerated at the Bradford County jail on unrelated charges.
Two-vehicle accident reported in Sheshequin Township
According to Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda, a 2004 Dodge Ram operated by Parker Mathers, 52, of Ulster, was traveling south on James Street in Sheshequin Township at approximately 12:55 p.m. on Dec. 29 when Mathers lost control on a steep uphill right curve in the roadway, which police described as slippery at the time. The vehicle then slid into the opposite lane where it was struck by a 1997 Jeep Cherokee driven by William Wulff, 29, of Towanda. No injuries were reported and Mathers was charged driving on the wrong side of the road.
The following person was recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
Garrett David Morgan, 22, of Milan, by the state police, on Dec. 30, on Bridge Street Hill Road in Towanda Township. A blood test on the day of Morgan's arrest revealed that there was 51 ng/ml of Oxycodone-Free in Morgan's blood. Morgan has been sent a summons to appear before Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Feb. 20 for a preliminary hearing.
