State police at Towanda said that William C. Harris, no age given, of Lookout Road, Troy, was charged with theft from a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property, in District Court 42-3-01, after stealing a 31-year-old woman's purse from her vehicle while it was parked in her driveway at 4 p.m. Nov. 15 on Porter Road in Troy Township.
State police at Towanda said that Melissa M. Arnold, 22, of Canton, had a minor injury in a two-vehicle accident at 5:05 p.m. Nov. 29 on Route 6 at the Bradford County Library in West Burlington Township.
Police said the other driver involved in the accident was Vernon W. Bristol, 49, of Canton, who wasn't injured.
According to police, Arnold was traveling east and Bristol was driving west when Arnold tried to make a left turn to the library. Police said their vehicles collided, and Arnold's Chevrolet Cavalier spun counterclockwise and came to rest facing west on Route 6.
Police said Bristol's Subaru Outback went off the northern roadside of Route 6 and into a ditch, rolled onto its passenger side facing west, and came to rest.
Police said Arnold was charged with a violation of "roadways laned for traffic."
Woman faces hearing on criminal mischief
Vanessa Ward, 22, of Chemung, N.Y. faces a preliminary hearing at 1:45 p.m. Dec. 26 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on a charge of criminal mischief for an incident that took place around 11 p.m. Aug. 18 on Blakeslee Road in Smithfield Township, according to court papers.
The papers note that Ward is accused of using a sharp object to scratch and remove paint from the driver's side of a red 2009 Pontiac G5 owned by Meghan Hurley, no age or address given, causing $813.44 in damage.
Wilcox said Ward was sent a summons.
Man charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief
Lee R. Stearns, 43, of Broad Street, Waverly was arrested for misdemeanor criminal mischief on Dec. 14 at 12:20 a.m.
According to information provided by Waverly police, Stearns, while in an alleged intoxicated condition, forced entry into an apartment door, causing heavy damage to the door, at a residence on Broad Street in Waverly.
The owner of the rental property requested to file charges to have restitution paid.
Stearns was issued an appearance ticket to answer the allegations in the Village of Waverly Justice Court on Dec. 20 at 4 p.m.
Man arrested on warrant
As the result of a traffic stop on Tioga Street in Waverly at 1:36 a.m. on Dec. 14, Waverly police arrested Jason E. Whitten, 26, of 5 Tioga St., Waverly on a warrant for a previous DWI arrest.
Whitten was also charged with misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree (alcohol related) and misdemeanor possession of a hypodermic needle.
Whitten was arraigned in Village of Waverly Justice Court and was sent to the Tioga County Jail, Owego, N.Y. to await further court action.
Bail amount was set at $5,000.
