No injuries reported

State police at Mansfield said Brian D. May, 49, of Canton, was not injured in a one-vehicle crash at 5:30 a.m. Feb. 6 in Union Township, Tioga County, Pa.

According to police, he was traveling west on Back Road too fast for the snow-covered road, as he approached a left curve. He failed to negotiate the left curve and his Chrysler Town and Country went off the northern part of the roadway, at the apex of the curve. It traveled through about 15 feet of snow that was 12-14 inches deep, and struck a tree, with the front bumper/grill area. The vehicle had significant damage, with the tree buried about 24 inches into the front bumper/hood area. Police said May fled the scene and he will be cited for various traffic violations in District Court 04-3-03.

Canton Auto Body assisted on the scene.

No injuries

State police at Mansfield said Jimmie D. Person, Jr., 29, of LeRoy, was not injured in a one-vehicle accident at 2:45 p.m. Dec. 29 on Ogdensburg Road in Union Township, Tioga County, Pa.

Police said he was traveling south in his Ford Focus, and lost control of the vehicle on the snow/slush-covered roadway. It slid off the roadway via the west berm, slid down a small embankment and rolled over onto its roof. Police said the vehicle came to rest on its roof, approximately 30 feet east of the roadway.

Police said Person was charged for a violation of "driving at safe speed" and it was "very apparent" that he was traveling too fast for conditions.

Man not injured

State police at Towanda said Glen T. Reese, Jr., 21, of Columbia Cross Roads, was not injured in a one-vehicle crash at 2:20 a.m. late last month on Main Street in Sylvania.

Police said he was traveling eastbound along Route 6 when he allowed his vehicle, a Mitsubishi Eclipse, to veer to the left, across both lanes of travel. It then made impact with a parked vehicle, a Jeep Liberty, along the northside berm, causing the vehicle to travel northeast into a house porch area. Police said the impact with the porch damaged the house. Reese continued to the east across the intersection with Iron Mine Road, where his vehicle came to final rest along the northside berm of Route 6, east of the intersection. Police said he is being charged with traffic violations.

Man faces hearing on criminal trespass

Shane Lucas Collins, 28, of Troy, faces a preliminary hearing at 3 p.m. March 12 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on charges of criminal trespass for an incident that took place at approximately 10 p.m. Nov. 10 on Ellwood Road in Wells Township, according to court papers.

Collins is accused of criminal trespass at a residence on Ellwood Road in Wells Township. He is also charged with a violation of "overnight accommodations - person present."

Man faces hearing on aggravated assault

Richard E. Gunter, 44, of Troy, faces a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. Feb. 19 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox in Troy on charges of aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person for an incident that took place at 12:58 p.m. Feb. 9 at his residence, according to court papers.

He is accused of causing serious bodily injury to a female victim.

Wilcox said Gunter was unable to post $75,000 bail.

Troy man charged with assault

Walter Bump, no age given, of Troy, is accused of "assault by prisoner" for an incident at 9:36 a.m. Jan. 8 at the Bradford County Correctional Facility, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

An affidavit notes that a BCCF officer confronted Bump about being extremely loud and disrespectful, and Bump began yelling obscenities toward the officer. At approximately 11:50 a.m., Bump began urinating out of his cell door and spitting out of his door. He then began to throw unknown liquids toward the officers and continued to spit in the direction of the officers.

In addition, Bump is charged with criminal mischief for damaging a cell door, shackles, and handcuffs at the jail, according to court papers.

An affidavit notes that it was reported that on Jan. 2, Bump was in a holding cell area because he was threatening to strike another inmate. While in the holding cell area, he began to kick the cell door, damaging it. BCCF officers then confronted him and the officers secured him and placed him in a restraint chair. He damaged the leg shackles and handcuffs while in the restraint chair, beyond the point of use.

Wilcox said Bump faces a preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. Feb. 19.

Woman sentenced for code violations

A Waverly woman was recently sentenced to five days in the Tioga County Correctional Facility after being cited for multiple code violations, according to Waverly village police.

Police said Janet E. Morrow, 75, was cited Feb. 11 for numerous violations of the New York State Property Maintenance Code following a lengthy investigation by village code enforcement. The violations related to storage or rubbish, garbage or junk, police said.

Morrow was sentenced to serve five days in the jail following hearings on the matter in Waverly Village Court, police said.

DUI charges

The following people were recently arrested for driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Paul Michael Craig, 34, of Athens, by Athens Borough police, on Feb. 8, on South Main Street in Athens. Craig has also been charged with speeding, failure to drive on the right side of the roadway, operating a vehicle without insurance and operating a vehicle with a suspended registration. A blood alcohol test revealed that Craig's blood alcohol content was .12 percent on the day of his arrest. Craig has been sent a summons to appear March 18 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Maryann Elizabeth Roberts, 36, of Elmira, N.Y., by Athens Borough police, on Feb. 9, at North Elmira and Pine streets in Athens. Roberts has also been charged with traveling too slowly, operating a vehicle without proper lighting and failure to notify the license bureau of a change of name or address. A blood alcohol test revealed that Roberts' blood alcohol content was .11 percent on the day of her arrest. Roberts has been sent a summons to appear March 18 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Normal Jay Swartz, 41, of Sayre, by Sayre Borough police, on Jan. 30, on North Elmer Avenue in Sayre. Swartz has also been charged with improper display of registration plate and failure to use a turn signal. A blood alcohol test revealed that Swartz' blood alcohol content was .18 percent on the day of his arrest. Swartz has been sent a summons to appear March 11 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Jessica Jayne Hunter, 29, of Milan, by Athens Borough police, on Feb. 1, on South Main Street in Athens. Hunter has also been charged with speeding. A blood alcohol test revealed that Hunter's blood alcohol content was .16 percent on the day of her arrest. Hunter has been sent a summons to appear March 11 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Ronald Lee Elliott II, 45, of Athens, by Athens Borough police, on Feb. 2, on North Main Street in Athens. Elliott has also been charged with failure to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic and operating a vehicle without a valid inspection. A blood alcohol test revealed that Elliott's blood alcohol content was .13 percent on the day of his arrest. Elliott has been sent a summons to appear March 11 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

James Michael Powell Jr., 44, of Waverly, by Athens Borough police, on Feb. 4, on Route 220 in Athens. Powell has also been charged with failure to keep right, failing to signal prior to changing lanes and speeding. A blood alcohol test revealed that Powell's blood alcohol content was .11 percent on the day of his arrest. Powell has been sent a summons to appear March 11 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Randal Alex Frey, 42, of Granville Summit, by Pennsylvania State police for a two-vehicle crash at approximately 9:15 p.m. June 21 in the area of Route 514, Granville Township.

According to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy, Frey was also charged with a violation of "drivers required to be licensed," a lane violation, and careless driving.

Police said a records check performed on June 21 revealed that Frey does not have a valid Pennsylvania driver's license. He had a blood-alcohol content of .229 percent, according to police.

Frey faces a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. March 5 before Wilcox.
