Man arrested following vehicle stop
A Spencer, N.Y. man was recently arrested by Tioga County, N.Y. sheriff's deputies on a warrant.
According to information from the sheriff's office, Victor M. Vanness, 27, was also charged with speeding, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle without a license.
Police said Vanness was charged following a vehicle stop in Barton. Vanness was found to have a warrant out for his arrest out of Ithaca, N.Y. for unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.
Vanness was turned over to the Ithaca City Police Department and is scheduled to appear in Barton town court May 28.
Police seek burglar
State police at Towanda are investigating a reported burglary incident in Ridgebury Township.
According to state police information, an unknown actor or actors entered a High Road property sometime between Dec. 13, 2012 and May 6. Police said the actor forcibly entered a secure shed, removed several items and fled the scene.

Police investigate MVA
State police at Towanda recently investigated a two-car motor vehicle accident in Smithfield Township.
According to information from state police, a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta operated by Jamie M. Horstmann, 19, of Candor, N.Y., pulled out in front of a 2004 Dodge Dakota at about 4:27 p.m. May 15 on Milan Road at its intersection with Springfield Road.
Police said the Jetta was stopped on Main Street and making a left onto Milan Road while the Dodge was traveling south on Milan Road. The Dodge struck the Volkswagen on the front driver side fender and door, police said.
Smithfield EMS transported Horstmann to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre for treatment of injuries of unknown severity, police said. The driver of the Dodge, Jediah D. Yale, 29, of East Smithfield, suffered a minor injury but was not transported to a hospital, police said. Both drivers wore their seat belts, police said.
Police cited Horstmann for failure to safely enter or cross a roadway, police said.
State police are investigating a theft reported in Albany Township.
According to information from state police at Towanda, an unknown actor or actors removed two Huffy bicycles from a Front Street yard May 13.
