DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Tyler Robert Peter Zukerman, 24, of Rome, by Athens borough police, on May 26, on South Main Street in Athens. Zukerman has also been charged with failure to keep right. A blood alcohol test later revealed that Zukerman's blood alcohol content was .26 percent on the day of his arrest. Zukerman has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw August 7 for a preliminary hearing.

Shane Eric Northrup, 39, of Sayre, by Pennsylvania state police, on May 28, on state route 220 in Athens Township. Northrup has also been charged with speeding, failure to signal before turning and two counts of failure to use restraint systems. A blood alcohol test later revealed that Northrup's blood alcohol content was .122 percent on the day of his arrest. Northrup has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw July 20 for a preliminary hearing.

Michael Lynn Harvey, 52, of Ulster, by Pennsylvania state police, on May 26, on state route 6 in Wysox Township. Harvey has also been charged with driving a commercial vehicle under the influence and careless driving. A blood alcohol test later revealed that Harvey's blood alcohol content was .086 percent on the day of his arrest. Harvey has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton July 17 for a preliminary hearing.

Woman charged with theft

A Sayre woman was recently arrested by Pennsylvania state police on a charge of theft by unlawful taking.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Cheri Lynn Frisbie, 26, was also charged with criminal conspiracy.

Police said Frisbie and a male co-defendant removed bicycles from a property in Litchfield Township.

Frisbie's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 3.

Marijuana possession charge

A Milan man was recently arrested by Athens borough police on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Robert Monro, 38, was also charged with public drunkenness.

Police said officers apprehended Monro after he was seen staggering and falling on the sidewalk on South Main Street. Monro had a small plastic bag containing marijuana in his possession, police said.

Monro's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 31.

Three arrested in truck vandalism

Three people were recently arrested by Athens borough police on charges of criminal mischief by damaging property.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Jennifer M. Irons, 27, of Waverly, Mitchell R. Evans, 30, of Athens, and Mindy M. Hobbie, 33, of Waverly, were also charged with harassment. Hobbie was also charged with victim intimidation, police said.

According to police, the three vandalized a red Chevrolet Silverado belonging to a male victim, causing $1,710 in damage. Police said Hobbie contacted the victim several times, asking him not to turn her in, and continued to contact him after police told her not to do so.

Evans, Irons and Hobbie are scheduled to face preliminary hearings on July 31.

Woman charged with retail theft

A Horseheads, N.Y. woman was recently arrested by Athens Township police on a charge of retail theft.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Melissa Myrreel Pyhtila, 26, was also charged with receiving stolen property.

Police said Pyhtila attempted to remove 48 items valued at $266.39 from the Walmart on Elmira Street.

Pyhtila's preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 7.

Child endangerment charge

A Waverly woman was recently arrested by Tioga County, N.Y. sheriff's deputies on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

According to information from the sheriff's office, Coleen P. Kraszewski, 18, was also charged with harassment following an investigation of a domestic incident in Barton.

Kraszewski was remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail or $2,000 bond. Kraszewski will appear in Town of Barton court on July 26.

Man arrested for assault

A Waverly man was recently arrested by village police on charges of assault and menacing.

According to information from village police, Thane Eric King, 52, was arrested following investigation into a June 19 domestic incident in the village. Police said King is accused of grabbing a female victim and shoving her to the ground.

King was arraigned in Village of Waverly court and remanded to the Tioga County jail in lieu of $2,500 to await further court action, police said.

Police investigating theft

Pennsylvania state police at Towanda are investigating the theft of copper wire from a property on state route 6 in Wysox Township.

According to information from state police, an unknown actor or actors removed copper wire from Aledco Inc., a business on state route 6, between 5 p.m. June 12 and 8 a.m. June 14. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.

Theft from vehicle

Pennsylvania state police are investigating the recent removal of items from a vehicle at an Orwell Township location.

According to information from state police at Towanda, an unknown actor or actors removed currency from an unlocked vehicle in a driveway on state route 467 between 11:30 p.m. June 13 and 9 a.m. June 14. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.

Man charged with assault

A Lowman, N.Y. man was recently charged with simple assault and harassment by Pennsylvania state police at Towanda.

According to state police information, Aaron Christopher Lagier, 38, pushed a female victim while the two were inside a vehicle June 20 on Big Pond Road in Springfield Township. Once the vehicle was stopped, the victim attempted to exit, but Lagier restrained her by grabbing her arms and pulling her shirt, police said.

Woman charged with assault

A Barton woman was recently arrested by Sayre borough police on a charge of simple assault.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Francine Dyal, 29, was also charged with harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Police said Dyal struck a female victim in the head and face June 23, causing cuts and scrapes.

Dyal was arraigned June 23 by Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail. Dyal's preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 26.
