People injured in crash
State police at Towanda said two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 4:05 p.m. June 16 on Wetona Road in Springfield Township.
Police said drivers in the accident were Timothy R. Beardslee, 52, of Columbia Cross Roads, who was driving a Dodge 2500, and Kandice R. Johnson, 21, of Lockwood, N.Y., who was driving a Ford Thunderbird.
According to police, two passengers in Johnson's vehicle, Tambra L. Floyd, 26, and Dale V. Williams, 55, both of Lockwood, had minor injuries.
Police said Beardslee was stopped on the westbound travel lane, partially on the eastbound travel lane, and Johnson was traveling east on the eastbound travel lane and struck Beardslee's vehicle with the driver's front corner of her vehicle.
Beardslee was charged with a lane violation and Johnson was charged for "driving while suspended," police said.
Child endangering investigated
State police at Towanda said they are investigating a complaint that a 1 1/2-year-old child was unsupervised at her residence around 11 p.m. June 7 in New Albany Borough, and gained access to prescription medications in a bedroom.
Police said the child removed several of the pills and reportedly placed one of them in her mouth, prior to being discovered by a parent. According to police, the pill was removed from the child's mouth and the child was taken to Memorial Hospital in Towanda for testing and observation. Based on toxicology testing, it was determined the child didn't ingest any harmful medications, police said.
Police said the investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Bradford County Children and Youth Services Agency in Towanda.
State police at Towanda said John W. Ross, 65, of Ulster, was the driver in a one-vehicle accident at 8:47 p.m. June 16 on Route 706 in Stevens Township.
According to police, he was traveling west in a Ford F350 and was exiting a right curve in the roadway when he left the west lane, and entered the east lane for an unknown reason. Police said his vehicle then exited the roadway and entered the south berm, continued west on the roadside, and struck a tree, causing disabling damage.
Police said he showed signs of intoxication and was transported to the hospital for BAC testing. Police said he was charged with careless driving. The vehicle was towed, police said.
State police at Towanda said someone climbed into the house of a 72-year-old South Creek Township woman by removing a window screen between 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. June 16 on Route 14 in South Creek Township.
State police at Towanda said Thomas John Zawistowski, 28, of Nichols, N.Y. was detained and arraigned at 8 p.m. June 19 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw after it was found that Zawistowski was wanted for assault in Tioga County, N.Y.
Police said he was committed to the Bradford County Correctional Facility, where he awaits extradition.
