Police Briefs 8/25/2012
The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Tioga County, N.Y.:
Michael S. Zampier, 39, of Waverly, by Waverly village police, on Aug. 20, on Broad Street in Waverly. Zampier has also been charged with speeding and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Zampier was issued a ticket to answer the charges Sept. 6 in Village of Waverly Court.
The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
Carla Rene Allen, 33, of Owego, by state police, on July 5, on Route 220 in Athens Township. A blood alcohol test later revealed that Allen's blood alcohol content was .171 percent on the day of her arrest. Allen has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw Oct. 2 for a preliminary hearing.
Man charged with trespassing
A Sayre man was recently arrested by borough police on a charge of defiant trespassing.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Ryan Jon Hunsinger, 19, was also charged with disorderly conduct.
Police said Hunsinger trespassed onto a Desmond Street residence Aug. 22, despite having been previously told he was not allowed to be there.
Hunsinger was released from the Bradford County jail on non-monetary bail, according to district court information. Hunsinger's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 4.
Two accused of stealing cash
Two people were recently charged with theft by unlawful taking by Sayre police.
According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Barry J. Hopcroft Jr., 23, of Sayre, and Melissa A. Goldman, 18, of Sayre, were also charged with criminal conspiracy.
Police said Hopcroft and Goldman removed a bank bag containing about $150 Aug. 21 from a residence they were staying in on East Lockhart Street.
Both have preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 4.
Bad check issued
A Sayre woman was recently issued a summons to appear in district court on a charge of writing a bad check.
According to a private criminal complaint filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Laura Allen McGaughey, age not provided, wrote a bad check May 21 to Tom Thumb Day Care in South Waverly. The check was in the amount of $568.74, according to the complaint.
McGaughey's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 25.
